Actress Ellen Pompeo has confirmed whether we have seen the last of Dr Meredith Grey or not. <\/p>

Ellen Pompeo has clarified her future on Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/a> as her iconic character Dr Meredith Grey.<\/p>\n

The star of the long-running hit medical drama stepped down from a regular role in the series in the nineteenth season in what was billed as Pompeo\u2019s exit from the show<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, now speaking with former co-star Katherine Heigl in the Variety series Actors on Actors<\/a>, Pompeo discussed whether she could leave the character of Meredith behind.<\/p>\n

Pompeo responded: \u201cOh no, I\u2019ve been on the show so long, I\u2019m happy to let that go. We\u2019re past that point. I think it\u2019s okay for Meredith to stop making bad decisions.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of my frustrations is the Nick and Meredith of it all. Scott Speedman plays Meredith\u2019s love interest, Nick Marsh \u2013 and I love Speedman. Somehow, Meredith can\u2019t figure out how to make a relationship work -still \u2013 after all this time.\u201d<\/p>\n\nThe pair\u2019s characters had a romantic reconciliation in the finale so perhaps Meredith has had her happy ending.<\/p>\nPompeo said on Meredith\u2019s exit from Seattle: \u201cI felt so happy to be able to step away and I felt like I accomplished something incredible.\u201d<\/p>\nHowever, the actress did confirm that this was not a complete goodbye to the character nor a \u201clast day on set\u201d for her.<\/p> \u2018It\u2019s a little bit of trickery because I\u2019m not completely gone, I am in the finale [of season 19],\u201d teased Pompeo. \u201cActually, the storyline is very cool. I don\u2019t want to give too much away, but there\u2019s a lot of real research that\u2019s changing very rapidly about Alzheimer\u2019s disease and about what they believe is the cause of Alzheimer\u2019s disease. It\u2019s pretty controversial.<\/p>\n\u201cSo Meredith\u2019s character left to go to Boston because her daughter needed to go to a special school and Jesse Williams\u2019 character Jackson lives in Boston and he offered her a job to work at that hospital and do research.\u201d<\/p>\nShe then added: \u201cI will be making some appearances hopefully next year if I can find some complete goodbye and I think we\u2019ve got an interesting story to tell.
