You can always count on Black Mirror<\/a> creator Charlie Brooker to cause a stir \u2013 so it\u2019s no real surprise that he\u2019s written an episode for season 6 parodying Netflix<\/a>, the very streaming service his show airs on.<\/p>\n Season 6 episode Joan Is Awful<\/a>, starring Salma Hayek<\/a>, features streaming service Streamberry, which looks a lot like Netflix.<\/p>\n However, according to Brooker, there was no resistance to his plans from Netflix \u2013 something he found a little \u201cdisappointing\u201d.<\/p>\n The writer recalled: \u201cWe just said, \u2018We\u2019ve got this streaming platform called Streamberry in this episode\u2026 can we make it look like Netflix?’\u201d<\/p>\n He added to Empire<\/a>: \u201cThey went away and came back quite quickly \u2014 weirdly quickly \u2014 and said, \u2018Yeah, okay.\u2019 There wasn\u2019t any resistance to it, that I could tell. It\u2019s one thing me watching it in the edit, but the thought that people are going to be watching it on the Netflix platform itself ? That\u2019s quite bonkers.\u201d<\/p>\n Joan is Awful is one of the five episodes set to be released in Black Mirror season 6 with a synopsis reading: \u201cAn average woman is stunned to discover a global streaming platform has launched a prestige TV drama adaptation of her life \u2014 in which she is portrayed by Hollywood A-lister Salma Hayek Pinault.\u201d<\/p> Joining Hayek on the cast for the episode are stars including Annie Murphy, Michael Cera and Ben Barnes.<\/p>
