After a decade since the last mainline title, Pikmin 4 is almost here \u2013 and it was looking great when we first saw gameplay earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Hopefully we\u2019ll get to see even more of our wee plant-pals at the next Nintendo Direct<\/a>, which is taking place very shortly.<\/p>\n

Shigeru Miyamoto revealed to the world back in 2015 that development for Pikin 4 was underway and was apparently not far from being launched.<\/p>\n

Here we are eight years later, so clearly something went awry \u2013 but we\u2019re glad to see it now with a new Ice Pikin and a dog-like creature to command.<\/p>\n

In a curious departure from the usual Nintendo form, the game is utilising Epic\u2019s Unreal Engine 4, perhaps shedding some light on technical issues faced by the developers along the way \u2013 but whatever the reason, it\u2019s looking like it could be one of the most interesting titles on the Switch.<\/p>\n

The Pikmin 4 release date is Friday\u00a0<\/strong>21st July 2023<\/b>, Nintendo has confirmed. Given that the game was confirmed some years ago and Nintendo kept quiet on it for ages, it\u2019s nice to finally have that release date locked in. Fingers crossed it doesn\u2019t get delayed.<\/p>\n

Pikmin 4 is a Nintendo Switch exclusive developed by Nintendo. It is not available on any other platform and, unless Nintendo has a massive and completely unprecedented change of heart, it will remain a Switch-exclusive game for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n
You won\u2019t be playing this on PC, PS5 or Xbox Series X in any universe. The only way this game is playable on a console that isn\u2019t the Switch is if it\u2019s ported to a future Nintendo console.<\/p>\n
