The new Marvel show welcomes some major new cast members. <\/p>

It would be fair to say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/a> has lost the consistency it was once known for, but early reviews<\/a> suggest that spy thriller Secret Invasion could be a return to form.<\/p>\n

Fans have delved into episode 1<\/a> of the Disney Plus<\/a> series, and already been left \u201cspeechless\u201d by quite the shocking ending and intrigued as to where the show is going to go.<\/p>\n

One thing that the show has going for it is an incredible cast, led by Samuel L Jackson in his iconic and long-held role of Nick Fury \u2013 the most formidable secret agent Earth has to offer.<\/p>\n

Joining him is Captain Marvel screen partner Ben Mendelsohn, who reprises the role of Skrull ally Talos, while Olivia Colman and Emilia Clarke are some big-name new recruits to the Marvel family.<\/p>\n

The comic book of the same name that inspired this show came with the memorable tagline: \u2018Who do you trust?\u2019 Viewers should be asking themselves that same question as surprises are sure to be in store.<\/p>\n

Who is Nick Fury?\u00a0<\/strong>Nick Fury is the most seasoned spy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He was introduced back in 2008\u2019s Iron Man as the director of intelligence agency SHIELD and the mastermind of the so-called Avengers Initiative.<\/p>\n

When SHIELD was brought down after Captain America learned it had been hijacked by HYDRA, Fury went into hiding \u2013 but has kept himself busy. Recent appearances have suggested he has been spending time in outer space, perhaps working with SWORD or keeping an eye on extraterrestrial threats. Secret Invasion sees him summoned back to Earth \u2013 but is he the threat he once was?<\/p>\n

Jackson recently said of the new Nick: \u201cThis is my second appearance post-snap, and he\u2019s been kinda gone for a while. He\u2019s a little tired, a little vulnerable, but coming back to Earth because he\u2019s been summoned. And we\u2019ll see what happens. Got a bad knee now. Not so happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

What else has Samuel L Jackson been in?<\/strong> One of Hollywood\u2019s most recognisable talents, Jackson\u2019s credits include the Star Wars prequels, Kingsman: The Secret Service and several collaborations with Quentin Tarantino, including Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight.<\/p>\n

Who is Talos?\u00a0<\/strong>Introduced in Captain Marvel \u2013 which was set in the 1990s \u2013 Talos is a leader of the shapeshifting alien race known as the Skrulls. He was once painted as a villain by the deceptive Kree, but in fact has a heart of gold and has become a valued ally to Nick Fury.<\/p>\n

However, he\u2019ll soon find that not all of his fellow Skrulls are happy with the docile bond he\u2019s forged with humanity.<\/p>\n

While Mendelsohn kept tight-lipped on the series, he did recently reveal at a Secret Invasion press conference: \u201cWe\u2019re finding Talos in a difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

What else has Ben Mendelsohn been in?\u00a0<\/strong>Mendelsohn is probably best-known for his role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, where he played the villainous Orson Krennic \u2013 a key figure in the construction of the Death Star.<\/p>\n

Who is Everett K Ross?\u00a0<\/strong>Ross is a former CIA agent, who has had several run-ins with superheroes in recent years, most notably the late King T\u2019Challa and his younger sister Shuri, both of whom have served as the Black Panther.<\/p>\n

Indeed, Ross became a fugitive after aiding the Wakandans at a time when the CIA was attempting to learn their secrets. It\u2019s a particularly awkward development as he used to be married to the agency\u2019s top boss: Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.<\/p>\n

Who is G\u2019iah?\u00a0<\/strong>G\u2019iah is the daughter of Talos, who was previously seen as a child in Captain Marvel, which is set decades before this entry. In that time, Nick Fury has failed to find the Skrulls a new home as he\u2019d once promised, causing G\u2019iah to feel resentful towards him.<\/p>\n

Who is James \u2018Rhodey\u2019 Rhodes?\u00a0<\/strong>Rhodes was a close friend of Tony Stark (aka Iron Man), who went on to don a metal suit of his own under the codename War Machine. He is also a senior figure in the United States Air Force.<\/p>\n

As for where Rhodey is now, Cheadle teased: \u201cI think we\u2019re just kind of finding out what\u2019s happening with Rhodey as this series goes on. He\u2019s in a different role. We see him as more a political animal than we have in the past. He\u2019s been more of a military man, but now he\u2019s, in some ways, a right hand of the president and this special envoy, in that regard.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I think what I\u2019m looking forward to is just seeing more getting under the hood of who he is and seeing how this relationship, not only with Nick Fury, but the other cast members evolves.\u201d<\/p>\n

What else has Don Cheadle been in?\u00a0<\/strong>Cheadle has appeared in several MCU productions, replacing Terrence Howard in the role of James Rhodes in Iron Man 2.
