So, that\u2019s a wrap on The Idol<\/a> \u2013 or is it?<\/p>\n While the HBO series has reached its end with episode 5<\/a>, entitled Jocelyn Forever, fans and critics of the drama have now turned to thinking whether or not we could see The Idol<\/a> returning for season 2.<\/p>\n It\u2019s safe to say that The Idol has been one series that has been subject to its fair share of\u00a0controversy<\/a> from the offset.<\/p>\n The much talked-about show only drummed up further reactions after its predominantly negative reception from critics at Cannes earlier this year.<\/p>\n But could we be seeing Lily-Rose Depp<\/a> and Abel \u2018The Weeknd\u2019 Tesfaye return as popstar Jocelyn and Tedros<\/a>?<\/p>\n The HBO drama centres on Depp\u2019s character, Jocelyn, as she embarks on a complicated love affair with dubious club manager Tedros \u2013 and it seems Tedros has been plotting how to get close to Jocelyn for some time.<\/p>\n The finale revealed, however, that it\u2019s Jocelyn who has been using Tedros as a muse for her new music, destroying his reputation and life in one fell PR swoop at the end of the episode.<\/p>\n Even so, we see the couple reunited on stage, meaning things are apparently back on for the confused couple.<\/p>\n But with Jocelyn enjoying the fruits of her labour, her manipulation and her sold out tour, where does that leave Tedros exactly?<\/p>\n Although The Idol was heavily reported to have six episodes, fans have been left with just five.\u00a0<\/span>Speaking to TVLine<\/a>, a source said: \u201c[Co-creator and co-writer] Sam [Levinson] took over and made significant changes. The story only ended up requiring five.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Following director Amy Seimetz\u2019s departure due to a \u201c<\/span><\/span>major creative overhaul and\u2026 adjusting the cast and crew\u201d (according to Rolling Stone<\/a>)<\/span>, <\/span>Levinson took on directing duties himself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But when Tesfaye spoke to GQ<\/a> in mid-June, he referred to it as a \u201cfive-hour film\u201d, as did several reviews from Cannes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Make of that what you will.<\/p>\n There are also question marks surrounding The Idol\u2019s future.<\/p>\n Following an article from the New York Post\u2019s Page Six<\/a>, in which sources claimed it \u201cwas never meant to be a long-running show, it was always\u2026 a limited series\u201d, HBO refuted that a call had been made on next steps<\/a>: \u201c<\/span>It is being misreported that a decision on a second season of The Idol has been determined.
