But with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the man who infamously murdered her husband Glenn years prior, still living at Alexandria, her innermost thoughts proved far from peaceful. In light of that, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:\">the fan favourite character will be forced to \u201cface the darkest parts of herself\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:\">in the zombie drama\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:\">upcoming final chapter, says longtime cast member Lauren Cohan.<\/span><\/p> <p><span style=\"font-weight:\">Following the season 11 premiere, which landed on Disney Plus in the UK yesterday (23rd August), the actor teased that the tensions between Negan and Maggie will be a \u201cdriving force\u201d going forward, as the latter is confronted with the fact that the bat-wielding baddie brings out a side to her she\u2019s fought hard to suppress.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:\">\u201cA big thing for me, reading, living and watching this season, is noticing all the parallels and how a huge part of their conflict is what they have in common,\u201d Cohan told <\/span><strong><a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">RadioTimes.com<\/a><\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight:\">exclusively. \u201cI think that\u2019s really difficult for them to see, I don\u2019t know how much they\u2019re aware of it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:\">The new chapter\u2019s opening two-parter sees Maggie lead Daryl, Gabriel (Seth Gilliam), Kelly (Angel Theory), Magna (Nadia Hilker) and Alden (Callan McAuliffe) on a dangerous supply run through Washington DC. Much to the others\u2019 annoyance, she elects to bring Negan along too, as he \u201cknows the city\u201d. Things take a turn though, when the group find themselves underground, stuck between a broken-down metro train and a horde of walkers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:\">Negan suggests they bail on the mission, and is quickly backed up by Gage (Jackson Pace), which leads Maggie and Daryl to berate them both. In response, Negan claims that Maggie brought him along just to kill him \u201caway from the prying eyes of Alexandria\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:\">He goes on: \u201cIf we get through this, I\u2019m not coming back. She\u2019ll find a way, she\u2019ll find a reason, she\u2019ll do it herself \u2013 here in the jungle. Her head isn\u2019t even in the game because I\u2019m in her head, living rent free. So, Maggie, me dying on your terms, it ain\u2019t happening. So what do you say? Let\u2019s get it done, right here, right now. Because I am not gonna let you drag me through the mud, filth and slime to put me down like a dog, like Glenn was.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:\">\u201cWe\u2019re down here because up-top is death. We\u2019re moving fast because our kids are starving, and I\u2019m calling the shots because that\u2019s how everyone voted. As for me killing you? It\u2019s always on my mind,\u201d she says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:\">\u201cI\u2019m not gonna tell you you\u2019re wrong about me because you aren\u2019t. \u2018The Woman Who Lived\u2019 six years ago is not the one that\u2019s standing over you now. There\u2019s a little bit of her left in me, and that little bit is the only thing keeping you breathing. But I don\u2019t know how long that\u2019s gonna last.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:\">\u201cMaggie\u2019s desperately trying to keep a hold of the steering wheel as it were,\u201d Cohan told <strong>RadioTimes.com<\/strong>. \u201cShe\u2019s realising that the best thing one can hope for is to live in all of these intense emotions and be able to get on with the job anyway.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:\">\u201cWe go down into the subway and, to me, I read that and was like, \u2018Oh, here we go, down into the depths of personal hell\u2019,\u201d Cohan chuckled. \u201cThat combined with Negan\u2019s paranoia, the way Jeff played that, I just freaking loved it so much, and it\u2019s tough on us, too, because there\u2019s all these memories and things you can let overwhelm you. That\u2019s the<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight:\"> raw <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight:\">stuff.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:\">\u201cIt just all feels very honest \u2013 that you\u2019d have this woman who\u2019s seen the things she\u2019s seen and really now has to weigh things up in the way that she does,\u201d she concluded. \u201cThere are decisions she makes here that come at a cost, and she has to make them on the fly. That\u2019s what it would be like\u2026 and then you\u2019d have to keep moving.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Walking Dead<\/b><b> season 11 premiered in the US on 22nd August 2021 on AMC, before arriving in the UK the following day exclusively via Star on Disney Plus.
