Prime Video has dropped the first trailer for its upcoming adaptation Red, White & Royal Blue<\/a>, which chronicles a fictional romance between a British prince and the son of the president of the United States.<\/p>\n

Based on the 2019 novel by Casey McQuiston, this streaming movie casts Nicholas Galitzine (Cinderella<\/a>) as the young Prince Henry and Taylor Zakhar Perez (The Kissing Booth<\/a>) as America\u2019s first son Alex Claremont-Diaz.<\/p>\n

The two of them get off on the wrong foot, with an early encounter at a royal wedding leading to a physical altercation which ends in the messy destruction of a lavish wedding cake (see above).<\/p>\n

However, they reconcile shortly after, and it isn\u2019t long before their friendship begins to blossom into something more.<\/p>\n

Check out the first trailer for Red, White & Royal Blue now:<\/p>\n\n<p>Red, White & Royal Blue follows recent LGBTQ+ hits <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/heartstopper-season-2-release-date-netflix\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Heartstopper<\/a> and <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/young-royals-season-3-release-date\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Young Royals<\/a>, which have dealt with similar themes and premises, so there\u2019s every chance this will be a similarly gargantuan success.<\/p>\n<p>The feature also stars Uma Thurman as the first female president of the United States (as well as Alex\u2019s mother), while Stephen Fry portrays a fictional king of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth realms.<\/p> <p>The cast of Red, White & Blue also includes Sarah Shahi (<a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/movies\/black-adam-dystopian-comment\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Black Adam<\/a>), Rachel Hilson (<a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/love-victor-season-4-cancelled-exclusive\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Love, Victor<\/a>), Ellie Bamber (<a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/fantasy\/willow-season-2-release-date-disney-plus\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Willow<\/a>) and Malcolm Atobrah (<a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/movies\/rye-lane-soundtrack\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Rye Lane<\/a>), with playwright Matthew Lopez serving as director and screenwriter.<\/p>\n<p>The romantic comedy looks to be sticking closely to the source material, which became a New York Times bestseller upon release, while it also picked up Best Debut and Best Romance at the 2019 Goodreads Choice Awards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Red, White & Royal Blue is coming to Prime Video on Friday 11th August 2023.
