Matthew Waterhouse, star of Doctor Who<\/a> who played Adric between 1980 and 1982 (with a brief re-appearance in 1984), has spoken about difficulties he faced when first filming the series.<\/p>\n

Speaking with this month\u2019s SFX magazine<\/a>, which is available to buy from 12th July, Waterhouse said that it was \u201cabsolutely amazing how little preparation there was\u201d after he was cast, saying: \u201cI had lunch with [producer] John Nathan-Turner and then I was straight into rehearsals.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t even introduced to Baker. Tom arrived late, actually, for the first read-through. I remember him looking the worse for wear.\u201d<\/p>\n

Waterhouse also admitted that he found Fourth Doctor star Tom Baker to be \u201ca very difficult man\u201d to work with, and that his first three stories as Adric were \u201cdepressing to make\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Waterhouse continued: \u201cI don\u2019t like to be negative \u2013 I think the E-Space trilogy is absolutely wonderful. But there is no point putting a fake gloss on it now, all these years later.<\/p>\n
