Speaking with this month\u2019s SFX magazine<\/a> \u2013 on sale from 12th July and available to subscribers from 8th July \u2013 Gaiman explained that while he and the late Sir Terry Pratchett had already partially worked out the plot for a sequel to their 1990 novel Good Omens, this season will not tell that story.<\/p>\n Instead, Gaiman explained that this season would provide the connective tissue between the first season and that storyline in a potential third outing.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cBecause the hypothetical season 3 exists, there is a story that is there, and I didn\u2019t feel that we could drive straight from season 1 into that.\u201d<\/p>\n Gaiman continued to explain how he devised the plot for this season, saying: \u201cI knew what the stakes were, I knew what the parameters were.<\/p>\n \u201cI also knew that I had David and Michael. I had the angels from plot number one. I had demons from plot number one. And with anybody that I wanted to bring back, but I didn\u2019t have room for right now, I did not have to bring them back as themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n The new season will see Michael Sheen\u2019s Aziraphale and David Tennant\u2019s Crowley trying to uncover a mystery when Jon Hamm\u2019s archangel Gabriel turns up unexpectedly at the door of Aziraphale\u2019s bookshop with no memory of who he is or how he got there.<\/p>\n Gaiman previously revealed that both Tennant and Sheen have been sent the new season<\/a> and that Tennant left him \u201ca stunned video message about how he only planned to watch the first episode and watched the whole thing and how wonderful it was\u201d.<\/p> Meanwhile, he said at the time that \u201cMichael has been directing his first TV series, and I don\u2019t think he\u2019s had a spare five hours to watch anything yet, although I know he wants to\u201d, and that \u201cJon Hamm has also seen it and loves it\u201d.<\/p>\n You can read the full interview in the latest\u00a0SFX issue<\/a>, available from 12th July.<\/strong><\/p>\n Good Omens season 2 will land on Prime Video on 28th July 2023 \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0try Amazon Prime Video for free for 30 days<\/a>.
