Could a second Luther film be on the cards? Keep your fingers crossed. <\/p>
It\u2019s the TV show turned movie that surprised and pleased fans when it landed on Netflix<\/a>, and it seems as though Luther: The Fallen Sun<\/a> could very well be coming back for more.<\/p>\n The film ended on a very big cliffhanger<\/a> which practically calls for a sequel<\/a> to be made, but according to star Idris Elba, fans will just have to keep their \u201cfingers crossed\u201d.<\/p>\n In an interview with Collider<\/a>, Elba revealed that the film \u201cdid really well\u201d and said: \u201cLuther ended up being one of the top five most streamed films on Netflix, which is an incredible achievement, since it was the first film from the television show. I\u2019m hoping to make another one.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued:\u00a0\u201cI love Luther. I love that character, and I love where I can possibly take him, as a story and as a character. So, yeah, keep your fingers crossed.\u201d<\/p> The comments follow previous statements made by both Elba and Luther creator\/writer Neil Cross<\/a> who have both said that their hopes are to continue making more Luther films, with Cross stating that the film world is where Luther \u201clives now\u201d instead of releasing more seasons of the original BBC drama.<\/p>\n Read more:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Elba has also been clear about his hopes of making Luther into a film franchise<\/a>, much like James Bond. At the premiere of The Fallen Sun, the actor said: \u201cWe do have the ambition to take it into a franchise because now that you\u2019ve got a film landscape, you\u2019ve got bigger budgets, but also you\u2019ve just got more stories we can tell.\u201d<\/p>
