It\u2019s been over 15 years since Samus blasted into hyperspace in the secret ending of Metroid Prime 3, and we fans have been eagerly awaiting a sequel ever since. Well, we\u2019ve graduated, had kids, maybe even retired, but Metroid Prime 4 has been somewhere in the periphery of our consciousness the whole time.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s been six years since its announcement, and four years since we learned the plan had been scrapped and rebooted with the help of Retro Studios. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel yet?<\/p>\n
We wouldn\u2019t recommend booking a day off work to play Metroid Prime 4 just yet. All we know is shared below.<\/p>\n
While we don\u2019t have an official release date, there\u2019s no harm in speculating! AAA games often about 5 years to make, and it\u2019s been four since we learned the team had started the project from scratch.<\/p>\n
Perhaps we\u2019re being generous, but we\u2019ll hazard a guess at late 2024<\/strong>.<\/p> While there isn\u2019t a page for it on the Nintendo store yet, Game seem to be well ahead of things.<\/p>\n They not only have a Metroid Prime 4 page, but they\u2019re offering a pre-order price at \u00a359.99. How this is possible when we know next to nothing about the game, we don\u2019t know. But you can check out the page here<\/a>!<\/p>\n As with any historical Nintendo franchise, we\u2019d be surprised if Metroid Prime 4 dropped on anything other than a Nintendo console.<\/p>\n So expect it on the Switch!<\/p>\n For the story, we can only speculate \u2013 so let\u2019s look back at Metroid Prime 3\u2019s ending. It seemed to round up the Prime trilogy that started on the GameCube in 2002, with the satisfying defeat of Dark Samus. However, if the player collects all the items in the game, they\u2019re treated to a cutscene in which our heroine blasts off into hyperspace. What will she find there? We guess we\u2019ll find out in Metroid Prime 4.<\/p>\n As for the gameplay, we can\u2019t imagine it\u2019ll be anything but high octane first person action.<\/p>\n At the moment there\u2019s no trailer in sight.
