And that\u2019s never been clearer than in last night\u2019s episode \u2013 when the love triangle forming between Mitchel Taylor<\/a>, Scott van der Sluis<\/a> and Abi Moores<\/a> intensified, plus a shock dumping left the cast speechless.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n There are more twists to be announced in tonight\u2019s instalment \u2013 but if you missed out on all of the action from Wednesday, RadioTimes.com<\/a> has you covered with our handy recap video above.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Read on to find out everything that happened in episode 38 of Love Island\u2026\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Tensions were still a bit fraught after the Islanders took part in the challenge Life\u2019s a Beach earlier in the day \u2013 and things only got more heated when Kady McDermott<\/a> was tasked with giving a toast at the start of the evening.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cLet\u2019s cheers to an eventful day, a good day. Great people. Honest opinions, maybe not-so-honest opinions, but let\u2019s have a good night,\u201d she said, referencing her earlier snipes with Tyrique Hyde<\/a> and Ella Thomas<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But things got awkward when Kady went on to congratulate Zachariah Noble<\/a> and Molly Marsh<\/a> \u201cfor being officially closed off\u201d after a conversation she had had with the actress that day \u2013 which came as a surprise to the other Islanders, and also to Zach himself!<\/span><\/p>\n After Molly led him to \u201ctheir firepit\u201d to have a chat \u2013 with Zach exclaiming: \u201cWhat\u2019s wrong with that girl?\u201d \u2013 he seemed to calm down, and told his actress partner: \u201cI still don\u2019t technically know what \u2018closed off\u2019 means, but now that it\u2019s out in the open, we can have that conversation. Any bombshells come in, I am not getting to know them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhat we\u2019re doing is perfect. Something good\u2019s going to come of this, I know that.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Afterwards, Molly cleared the air with Kady, while Zach chatted to the boys and awkwardly admitted that they had never had that conversation!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve never said: \u2018We\u2019re closed off,\u2019\u201d he told them. \u201cI think there\u2019s definitely a spice of she\u2019s claiming her territory. I\u2019m surprised by that speech, but I\u2019m taking it bro. I\u2019m a closed off man.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Scott also wanted to air his thoughts with Abi after she had thrown shade at him (literally, with a parasol!) in the challenge by saying he only wanted to get to know her now because he was single and vulnerable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Telling her how he felt, the Welsh footballer said: \u201cWe had flowing conversations as friends, we both like the look of each other \u2013 why not? In here, right now, you\u2019re the only person I see a possibility with, so I\u2019ve got to explore that.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve got to see if there\u2019s something more there.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Abi went on to tell Scott that he was physically her type, and later seemed confused as she revealed in the Beach Hut: \u201cIt\u2019s a sticky situation for me!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n While they were talking, Abi\u2019s current partner Mitch watched on, and even asked his former flame Molly for advice on how to handle the situation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n After Abi had finished talking to Scott and revealed to Mitch that their talk had gone well, he didn\u2019t seem best pleased.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll be honest, I wanted to talk to you all night tonight and we spoke for about ten minutes,\u201d he berated. \u201cBy all means, get to know Scott, but I feel like there\u2019s a level of respect to that and you didn\u2019t give me any.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI like you a lot. You\u2019ve got to do what\u2019s right for you, but I can only stand watching it for so long before I go: \u2018I know what we\u2019ve got is good. You either want to pursue it with me, or do it with him.\u2019 And it will get to that point a lot sooner than you think. I don\u2019t know how long I\u2019m going to give you.\u201d Eek!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The next day, viewers were surprised to see Scott and Catherine Agbaje<\/a> \u2013 of all people! \u2013 having a discussion about how things were going with Abi.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The former couple \u2013 who had a series of fierce rows when Catherine recoupled with Elom Ahlijah-Wilson post-Casa Amor \u2013 looked relaxed, and Cath told him: \u201cI\u2019m happy that we\u2019re at a place where we don\u2019t feel awkward with each other, we\u2019re at a place where we can speak. I do still care about you.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n And Catherine may need Scott\u2019s shoulder to cry on sooner than she thinks, because while her pal Whitney Adebayo<\/a> and Lochan Nowacki<\/a> headed out on their romantic first date \u2013 where they both admitted they make each other happy, and Whit later told the girls that she could see him becoming her boyfriend! \u2013 Elom dropped a huge revelation on the Dublin beauty.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Beginning the chat by telling Cathy that he \u201creally rated\u201d her and \u201clikes where things are going\u201d, personal trainer Elom then dropped the clanger that he feels \u201ctoo comfy\u201d and that he\u2019s \u201cnot getting [himself] out there\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve always said that right now, in this villa, I\u2019m closed off with you,\u201d he explained. \u201cBut at the same time, if a bombshell was to walk in, I\u2019m not going to say: \u2018No, I\u2019m not going to speak to them.\u2019 But I\u2019ve built a connection with you and I rate that as well and I don\u2019t want to throw something like that away.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Speaking to Jess Harding<\/a> and Sammy Root<\/a> after Elom\u2019s brutal honesty, Catherine seemed quite upset, saying: \u201cI feel like you shouldn\u2019t be thinking about \u2018what ifs\u2019 right now. You may be cool, you may be comfy, but just enjoy it, because in here you never know what happens. It was very random.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt just makes me think that maybe I am showing too much emotion, maybe I am showing I like him, maybe I need to stop and pull back.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She continued in the Beach Hut: \u201cIf you have something good, why ruin it? Why have you been thinking about that? It just scares me a little, because obviously my feelings are in it. S*** situation.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The conversation was far from over, though, as Elom tried in vain to clear the air with the real estate agent.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Apologising for \u201chow it came across\u201d, he said: \u201cThe connection that we have is very strong and I wouldn\u2019t want to chuck it away, but at the same time, I don\u2019t want it to seem like a surprise.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Firing back, Cathy told him: \u201cOne thing about me, I trust my connections and I trust the way I feel about you. So the fact that you\u2019re premeditating it, made me be like\u2026 confused.\u201d<\/span><\/p> Visibly upset, she took refuge in the Beach Hut again. \u201cIt\u2019s so hard, because you open yourself up to someone and get to know them,\u201d said Catherine. \u201cA bombshell might not come in for another week, they might not come in at all from here, but you\u2019re still thinking: \u2018What if?\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt means you\u2019re not really living in the moment, it means that i should basically pull back, which is s***.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Scott and Abi had another talk, where the flight attendant revealed that their chat the night before had left Mitch feeling \u201cmuggy\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n But Scott was quick to put her at ease and told her: \u201cYou\u2019re going to Mitch for advice at times, and Mitch is only going to give you his side of the story. You just have to think: \u2018Right, I have to do things now that I\u2019ll regret not doing in a few weeks\u2019 time.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n While she did refuse to workout with him for fear of infuriating her current partner, Abi did continue: \u201cI find it attractive when a guy grafts me. Obviously I\u2019m going to enjoy it, two fit guys going after me \u2013 but I\u2019m slightly not enjoying it because it\u2019s a stressful situation!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIf your head\u2019s spinning and I\u2019m making your brain tick, then I\u2019m doing something right,\u201d Scott replied, cheekily. \u201cThat just means this is going well.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n While he pretended to be nonchalant about the situation as he watched on from the pool, the rest of the boys winding him up had clearly got in Mitch\u2019s head, and he was quick to pull Scott for a chat when the evening came around.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t appreciate my name being brought up, I don\u2019t need to be mentioned,\u201d he told the Welshman. \u201cI think you think that this is a triangle \u2013 she\u2019s single, and me and you are battling it out. We\u2019re not. Me and Abi are going really well, and I\u2019m giving you the time of day to get to know her, respectfully, as a friend. If you\u2019re going to chat to her, then don\u2019t mention my name.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n While we all cringed at the telling off, cool-headed Scott calmly explained that he was just trying to tell Abi to make her own mind up without either man getting involved \u2013 and that sounded exactly like what she was doing, as the Hampshire-born beauty told Amber Wise<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m not sure [if there\u2019s potential with Scott]. I\u2019m giving him time, I\u2019m giving him a chance.\u201d But who will she end up choosing?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Elom had a final crack at making up with Catherine, and took her to the terrace.<\/span><\/p>\n Telling her the reason he brought up his earlier thoughts was because he \u201cnever wants to see [her] get hurt\u201d (so maybe just stay who you\u2019re happiest with then..?), Elom added: \u201cIn this present time, I just love being around you, I love spending time with you, I love everything about you.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n His words were enough to get back into Catherine\u2019s good books (sigh), as she told him she forgives him and the pair shared a kiss.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But their happiness was short lived, as Ella then received a text to say that the public had been voting for the most compatible couple\u2026 and the pair with the fewest votes was Catherine and Elom, who were immediately dumped from the villa.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Islanders \u2013 especially Whitney and Ella \u2013 were gutted to see them go, and they waved them off from the entrance of the house.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But shockingly, Mitch then got a message asking the contestants to gather all around the firepit.<\/span><\/p>\n Sneakily, producers had arranged a double eviction, and the three couples who also had the fewest votes \u2013 Jess and Sammy, Kady and Ouzy See<\/a>, and Leah Taylor<\/a> and Montel McKenzie<\/a> \u2013 were all asked to stand in front of the firepit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Scott was the Islander to say who would be leaving \u2013 but the episode ended on a cliffhanger, so we\u2019ll have to tune in tonight to see which other couple will be dumped!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The end of the episode also teased that two new bombshells, Ella Barnes and Josh Brocklebank, will appear as late entries to the show \u2013 but who will they have their eye on, and are they set to ruffle a few feathers?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Love Island airs on <\/strong>ITV2 at 9pm.
