The case centred on Becker\u2019s bankruptcy in 2017, resulting from an unpaid loan of more than \u00a33 million on his luxury estate in Mallorca, Spain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Becker had been legally obliged to share all of his assets so that his trustee could distribute available funds to his creditors, to whom he owed nearly \u00a350 million when he was declared bankrupt.<\/p>\n

However, he failed to disclose, concealed and removed significant assets from the Official Receiver and his Trustee in Bankruptcy. Assets concealed included his share of a property in Leiman, Germany, and 75,000 shares in a software company.<\/p>\n

In his 2022 trial, Becker was found guilty of removal of property, two counts of failing to disclose estate and concealing debt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Jurors acquitted him on a further 20 charges, including nine counts of failing to hand over his tennis trophies and medals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

On 29th April 2022, he was sentenced to 30 months in prison. He was sent to HM Prison Wandsworth before being transferred to HM Prison Huntercombe, which is a facility used to detain foreign nationals.<\/p>\n

He was released on 15th December 2022 after serving eight and a half months.^{<\/p> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n}

Where is Boris Becker now?<\/strong><\/h2>\n
After he was released from prison, Boris Becker quickly returned to his native country Germany, as he was eligible for automatic deportation having received a custodial sentence of more than 12 months.^<\/p>\n
Speaking of his 231 days behind bars, he previously told BBC Radio 5 Live<\/a>: \u201c<\/span>Whoever says that prison life isn\u2019t hard and isn\u2019t difficult, I think is lying. It was a very brutal \u2026 a very, very different experience to what you see in the movies, what you\u2019ve heard from stories.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou fight every day for survival. Quickly, you have to surround yourself with the tough boys, as I would call it, because you need protection.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said his incarceration \u201chumbled\u201d him, adding: \u201cI\u2019m a survivor; I\u2019m a tough cookie. I\u2019ve taken the incarceration, but I\u2019ve also taken the glory and if anything this made me a stronger, better man.\u201d<\/p>\n
Is Boris Becker allowed back in the UK?<\/strong><\/h2>\n
Boris Becker will not be allowed to return to the UK until October 2024 at the earliest.<\/p>\n
Becker has said that he misses London, however, and would \u201clove\u201d to return to his commentating role at Wimbledon.<\/p>\n
He also revealed that he\u2019s been in contact with the BBC about being part of its coverage in the future, but said that \u201cit\u2019s not [his] decision\u201d.<\/p>\n
As per The Guardian<\/a>, a Home Office spokesperson said: \u201cAny foreign national who has been convicted of a crime and deported is prohibited from returning for as long as the deportation order made against them remains in force.\u201d<\/p>\n
