The Sixth Commandment is about \u201cevil hiding in plain sight\u201d according to star Anne Reid, who has spoken about the \u201ctremendous responsibility\u201d of portraying a real person.<\/p>\n

Reid plays retired headmistress Ann Moore-Martin, who was the second person to be targeted by Ben Field, a much younger man who aimed to get close to her in order to be included in her will.<\/p>\n

Previously, he had found a way into the life of novelist and lecturer Peter Farquhar, feigning a loving relationship while secretly drugging and gaslighting the vulnerable man, causing him to question his sanity.<\/p>\n

Field was convicted of murdering Farquhar in 2019, but was found not guilty of the attempted murder of Moore-Martin. However, he did confess to a plot to get both to change their wills.<\/p>

Reid said: \u201cI think that the audience will find the whole story fascinating. But what\u2019s terrifying about this story is that this sort of terrible evil is hiding in plain sight. Ben Field could be anybody \u2013 he feels like he\u2019s a normal loving guy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt makes you sort of question your own life. I don\u2019t know whether I would have been taken in by someone like him, probably not. But it\u2019s very difficult to judge relationships.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cOften you look at other people and you wonder \u2018Why are they attracted to each other?\u2019 But I\u2019ve got to imagine that [it] might be because she was an intelligent woman who was being drugged, and that was tricky to play \u2013 I\u2019ve never taken drugs so that was quite a challenge!\u201d<\/p>\n
