Oppenheimer is blasting onto screens this summer. Christopher Nolan\u2019s latest is a biopic about the creation of the first ever nuclear bomb.<\/p>\n

Boasting an incredible lineup of actors, its cast is one of the strongest you\u2019re likely to find in any summer blockbuster.<\/p>\n

The film <\/span>stars <\/span>Peaky Blinders<\/span><\/a> star Cillian Murphy as the eponymous J Robert Oppenheimer, the director of the Manhattan Project and father of the atomic bomb.<\/span><\/p>\n

Murphy previously compared Oppenheimer<\/a> with his role as Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders because he sees both figures as \u201ccontradictory characters\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m interested in the man and what [inventing the atomic bomb] does to the individual,\u201d Murphy told The Observer<\/a>. \u201cThe mechanics of it, that\u2019s not really for me \u2013 I don\u2019t have the intellectual capability to understand them, but these contradictory characters are fascinating.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTommy Shelby\u2019s a complete contradiction, too. People identify with that, because we all walk around with these contradictory ideas coexisting in our heads.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Murphy is joined by the likes of Emily Blunt as Oppenheimer\u2019s wife, Kitty, Matt Damon as <\/span>Lieutenant General Leslie Groves, Robert Downey Jr as Lewis Strauss, and Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock.<\/span><\/p>\n

In early reactions<\/a>, the acting has been praised, with Murphy and Downey Jr stealing the show with \u201cflawless\u201d performances.<\/p>\n
