According to reports, the Roxy Mitchell actor will be causing fireworks on the Channel 4 soap. <\/p>
Former EastEnders<\/a> star Rita Simons is set to join the cast of Hollyoaks<\/a>, according to reports.<\/p>\n Simons played the role of Roxy Mitchell on Albert Square between 2007 and 2017 before making one-off appearances in 2019 and earlier this year, and it now looks like she\u2019s landed a regular role on the Channel 4 soap.<\/p>\n Although specific details about her character have not been revealed, The<\/a> Sun<\/a> reports that Simons will be causing her fair share of drama when she joins the series.<\/p> \u201cRita\u2019s new character will certainly ruffle feathers and is set to stir the pot,\u201d an insider is quoted as saying. \u201cHollyoaks\u00a0fans can expect plenty of fireworks.\u201d<\/p>\n RadioTimes.com<\/a> has approached Hollyoaks for comment on the story.<\/p>\n Interestingly Simons previously addressed the possibility of joining the Hollyoaks cast during an appearance on Good Morning Britain earlier this year.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not telling you,\u201d she teased host Adil Ray when he asked if a role might be on the cards. \u201cWhen I have something to tell you, I will tell you.\u201d<\/p>\n Simons\u2019 long-running EastEnders role is by far her most notable TV credit, although she also appeared in an episode of Professor T last year and has starred extensively on stage.<\/p>\n Roxy was killed off in 2017 when she drowned alongside her sister Ronnie, with Simons\u2019 two subsequent appearances on the soap having been as a voiceover and as an hallucination respectively.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Hollyoaks is available to stream on All4 and airs every weeknight at 6:30pm on Channel 4 and 7pm on E4.
