BBC series The Sixth Commandment tells a harrowing true story<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Penned by Sarah Phelps (A Very British Scandal<\/a>) and directed by Saul Dibb (The Salisbury Poisonings<\/a>),<\/span> the new show recounts the real-life murder of Peter Farquhar<\/a> (Timothy Spall) in the sleepy Buckinghamshire village of Maids Moreton.<\/span><\/p>\n

Farquhar was a devout Christian who fell victim to churchwarden Ben Field,<\/a> who duped him into a false relationship in the hopes he would change his will to include him, carrying out this manipulative plan again with fellow senior citizen Ann Moore-Martin (Anne Reid).<\/span><\/p>\n

Normal People alum \u00c9anna Hardwicke<\/a> portrays Field and has admitted that the story \u201cgot under his skin\u201d<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Hardwicke said of his character: \u201cThere was never a day that went by that Peter and Ann weren\u2019t on my mind, and I\u2019m glad that was the case. I think it\u2019s important that they were close to the making of this, that they\u2019re not just at the forefront of the story, but the \u2018why\u2019 in why we\u2019re making it.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I was thinking of them constantly and sometimes, because you\u2019re so close to it and you\u2019re filming it over three months, it becomes more and more moving and I felt closer to the story the further we went on.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first two episodes began airing on Monday 17th<\/b><\/span> and Tuesday 18th July<\/strong> at 9pm on BBC One.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sixth Commandment cast: Who stars in the drama?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Timothy Spall and Anne Reid lead the cast of The Sixth Commandment as Peter Farquhar and Ann Moore-Martin respectively, two individuals who became targets of a much younger man.<\/p>\n

Spall is one of the UK\u2019s best-known acting talents, whose credits include Best Picture winner The King\u2019s Speech, acclaimed biopic Mr Turner and the Harry Potter franchise.<\/p>\n

Co-star Anne Reid previously shared the screen with Spall in an episode of Channel 4 anthology Electric Dreams, while she\u2019s also known for her own celebrated turns in Last Tango in Halifax and Sanditon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u00c9anna Hardwicke takes on the dark role of Ben Field \u2013 the man found guilty of murdering Farquhar, who also attempted to get Moore-Martin to include him in her will.<\/span><\/p>\n

Viewers may recognise Hardwicke from his breakout role of Rob Hegarty in BBC Three\u2019s Normal People, while more recently he appeared in the second season of Netflix\u2019s Fate: The Winx Saga<\/a>.<\/p>\n
