The super-fan is “excited” to see Ncuti Gatwa’s incarnation. <\/p>
Mark Gatiss has said that he would seize an opportunity to play The Doctor, but doesn\u2019t expect one to present itself anytime soon.<\/p>\n
The actor has played various roles on Doctor Who<\/a> over the years, including the villainous Professor Lazarus in 2007 and Captain Archibald Hamish Lethbridge-Stewart a decade later.<\/p>\n He maintains a good relationship with showrunner Russell T Davies \u2013 recently collaborating with him on ITVX drama Nolly<\/a> \u2013 but is sceptical about whether he\u2019d be called up to the top job.<\/p>\n \u201cOf course I would [like to],\u201d he told The Guardian<\/a>. \u201c[But] I think that ship may have sailed.\u201d<\/p> He went on throw his unequivocal support behind incoming Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa, directing particular praise towards his sharp fashion sense (recently showcased in a glossy new poster<\/a>).<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t tell you how excited I am about Ncuti Gatwa. Apart from the fact that he is clearly one of the sexiest, most talented men on earth, he can wear anything,\u201d continued Gatiss.<\/p>\n \u201cHe posted on Instagram how much he admires Jon Pertwee\u2019s dress sense, and I was so thrilled. I\u2019d be the first naturist Doctor and that would scare away the Daleks.\u201d<\/p>\n Gatiss is well-known to Doctor Who fans, having written nine episodes of the revived series including The Unquiet Dead and Victory of the Daleks, while he has also contributed to the show\u2019s official companion magazine.<\/p>\n He recently starred in high-octane blockbuster Mission: Impossible \u2013 Dead Reckoning Part 1<\/a>, where he played a representative of the NSA.<\/p>\n Doctor Who is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
