With Rick and Morty<\/a> set to return for its seventh season in the coming months, one of the show\u2019s producers has addressed the recast of the series\u2019s two main characters which is currently underway.<\/p>\n

The show\u2019s co-creator and star Justin Roiland was dropped from the show<\/a> in January 2023 after he was charged with domestic violence. The charges, which he denied, were dismissed<\/a> in March 2023, with a spokesperson for the Orange County district attorney\u2019s office saying that this was as a \u201cresult of having insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt\u201d.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a panel to celebrate the show\u2019s 10th anniversary, producer Steve Levy addressed the recasts and said, as reported by IGN<\/a>: \u201cWe are closing in on the end of our process of the recast. It\u2019s going to be great\u2026 I\u2019m thoroughly impressed\u2026 That\u2019s the thing I don\u2019t want to be overshadowed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Levy also confirmed that the recasts would be soundalikes rather than taking the voices in a different direction, confirming that \u201cthe characters are the same characters\u201d.<\/p>\n
