There is a new comedy with a brilliantly blunt title on the way to Channel 4, and it could well be the broadcaster\u2019s next hit. I Hate You comes from the mind of Robert Popper (Friday Night Dinner) and will have Damon Beesley (The Inbetweeners) in the director\u2019s chair.<\/p>\n

He has a great cast lined up too, with the lead roles being played by Sex Education<\/a>\u2018s Tanya Reynolds and newcomer Melissa Saint in her first lead role. As for what I Hate You will be about, we did get a summary from Channel 4 and it looks to be every bit as hilarious and weird as we would expect from Popper.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/em>It\u2019s about the one friend you can say anything to and do anything with: the idiotic in-jokes, and the laughing till you almost puke, as well as the insane bickering and late-night shouting matches. It\u2019s about that one friend you really love \u2013 and really hate.\u201d<\/p>

It continues: \u201cCharlie\u2019s a bit of a worrier, who thinks 99% of humans are d*ckheads, and Becca \u2013 no embarrassment gene, usually makes the wrong decision. Together they share a flat that is half spotless (Becca\u2019s room) and half \u2018sh*ttery\u2019 (Charlie\u2019s room). Together they\u2019re complete chaos\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first series sees Charlie get arrested for pick-pocketing a police officer, Becca learns the perils of jogging to jazz, the girls meet a man who believes humans came from bears, and both start dating older guys \u2013 more specifically \u2013 men in their seventies. All this plus a Lord who keeps a fly as his pet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Show Creator Robert Popper said: \u201cHaving spent ten years writing a show about a super intense family, I really wanted my next one to be about super intense friends. And, since I\u2019ve never had a friend in my life, I\u2019m hoping this will teach me how to find one.\u201d<\/p>\n
