You don’t have to wait long for David Tennant’s Doctor Who return after all. <\/p>

Doctor Who fans may have been counting down the days till later in the year for David Tennant<\/a>\u2018s iconic return to the long-running sci-fi series, but it seems as though there\u2019s an earlier Doctor Who<\/a> surprise in store.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s right people, David Tennant is back for more Doctor Who adventures but this time round, in Big Finish\u2019s brand new audio anniversary special, The Martian Invasion of Planetoid 50.<\/p>\n

The exciting new episode is the next in the 60th anniversary<\/a> Once and Future series, which is due for release this September. Although fans are eagerly awaiting Tennant\u2019s return in the TV series for three new TV specials as the Fourteenth <\/span>Doctor, he\u2019ll be back first in the audio drama as his Tenth incarnation.<\/span><\/p>

Recorded back in 2020, the cast of the new audio adventure will also include Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart) and Strax (Dan <\/span>Starkey) as The Paternoster Gang, and Missy <\/span>(Michelle Gomez).<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the synopsis for the episode: \u201cThe First Doctor arrives in Victorian London amid a Martian invasion. But he discovers all is not <\/span>what it seems when Missy appears\u2026 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSoon, the Doctor is propelled<\/span> into a future incarnation<\/span> \u2013<\/span> the Tenth<\/span> \u2013<\/span> but he is not alone in <\/span>battling Missy and her Martian invaders. The Paternoster Gang<\/span> \u2013<\/span> Madame Vastra, Jenny Flint <\/span>and Strax<\/span> \u2013<\/span> are also here to assist. But can they offer the Doctor any help in solving his own <\/span>degener<\/span>ation mystery?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking about the new episode, series producer David Richardson said: \u201cI feel privileged to have produced this very special <\/span>episode, and the recording session was very special too.<\/span><\/span>

\u201cTo have all of these wonderfully rich characters together was a treat, and to have David <\/span>Tennant and Michelle Gomez going head<\/span>\u2013<\/span>to<\/span>\u2013<\/span>head was joyous. Michelle loves to play with the <\/span>script, and she improvised beautifully<\/span><\/span> \u2013<\/span><\/span> and David took her improvisations a<\/span>nd matched her.<\/span><\/span>

\u201cDuring the recording, I wondered how much might make it to the edit, but it\u2019s all there within <\/span>the final scenes. Joyous<\/span><\/span> \u2013<\/span><\/span> I\u2019ve used the word again. I\u2019ve no other way to describe it.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
