Russell T Davies has warned fans they \u201cwon\u2019t be laughing\u201d at a pivotal moment in the third of this year\u2019s Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The popular sci-fi drama revealed (via Instagram<\/a>) that the final entry in the three-parter is titled The Giggle, with a short teaser showing David Tennant\u2019s Fourteenth Doctor expressing his disgust at a formidable new villain.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s here. Driving you mad. Laughing at the human race,\u201d says the Time Lord, seemingly referring to Neil Patrick Harris\u2019s as-yet-unidentified villain.<\/p>\n

Despite its title, Davies stopped by the comments section to assure fans that the episode won\u2019t simply be a barrel of laughs, adding: \u201cOh you won\u2019t be laughing when\u2026\u201d, followed by a sad-faced emoji.<\/p>

The ominous comment implies an emotional moment at some point in the episode, perhaps shared between the Fourteenth Doctor and former companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate).<\/p>\n

It could also refer to the circumstances of his regeneration, with the specials expected to culminate in Tennant departing the show once more, making way for Ncuti Gatwa\u2019s entrance as the Fifteenth Doctor.<\/p>\n

In an earlier post this week, Davies summarised the specials in five words, saying: \u201cDoctor, danger, dancing, Donna\u2026 and disaster.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans are excited to feast their eyes on the 60th anniversary specials and subsequent season 14, the latter of which has assembled an impressive cast for its adventures.<\/p>\n

Aneurin Barnard, Anita Dobson, Jinkx Monsoon, Indira Varma, Lenny Rush and Jonathan Groff are all confirmed to be taking roles in the next chapter, while Bonnie Langford and Jemma Redgrave are returning from previous entries.<\/p>\n
