The casting was big news when it broke last year, following Finney\u2019s star-making turn as Elle Argent in Netflix<\/a>\u2018s LGBTQ+ coming-of-age drama Heartstopper<\/a>.<\/p>\n Fans were even more intrigued to learn that she would be playing a character named Rose; a name loaded with meaning to Doctor Who<\/a> fans after the stories told with Billie Piper\u2019s former companion.<\/p>\n Details are scarce on who exactly Finney\u2019s Rose is and what role she\u2019ll play in the narrative, but fans have speculated that she could be a recurring presence \u2013 and Davies\u2019s latest comments possibly confirm just that.<\/p> Writing in Doctor Who Magazine<\/a> #594, which is on sale from today, the screenwriter said: \u201cI stand at the back of the studio. Millie catches my eye. We wave across the distance, but I don\u2019t step in. They\u2019re busy. Clock ticking. But around me, people are drawing in.\u201d<\/p>\n The screenwriter continued: \u201cCrew, office staff, actors. It\u2019s been a week of goodbyes \u2013 Yasmin Finney wrapped a few days ago, big hugs, see you soon \u2013 but it all comes down to this.
