The new batch of season 7 episodes<\/a> is yet to get a confirmed release date, but if the twists<\/a> of the season are anything to go by so far, we\u2019re in for a wild ride.<\/p>\n It\u2019ll be the penultimate season before the hit historical fantasy series wraps up for good and fans have never been more keen to know just how Outlander<\/a> will end.<\/p>\n The series is, of course, based on Diana Gabaldon\u2019s acclaimed book series<\/a>, but with Gabaldon still working on her tenth and final Outlander novel, what does that mean for the ending of the TV series?<\/p>\n Well, RadioTimes.com<\/a> posed the question of how the series will wrap up in light of the lack Outlander\u2019s final book to executive producer Maril Davis. She revealed: \u201cWe\u2019ve talked to Diana a bit. Once we figure out how the actual ending is going to be \u2013 which we don\u2019t totally have yet \u2013 I think we\u2019ll run it by her and make sure she\u2019s OK with it.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve asked her about things that we want to do to make sure she\u2019s OK. The last thing we want to do is step on Diana\u2019s toes, she\u2019s been so lovely and supportive of this series and so thrilled with how it\u2019s gone. We want to repay her and be respectful of her, do her books justice.<\/p>\n \u201cBut also, she\u2019s always felt like the books are hers and the show is something different and I love that about her, she gives us that freedom also to take chances and risks and do things slightly differently.\u201d<\/p> Davis concluded: \u201cWe will of course run things by her, it will have to be slightly different, obviously, because she\u2019s ending it and she hasn\u2019t figured that out yet \u2013 what that it is \u2013 and we\u2019re going to have to end the TV show. I\u2019m excited about it but we have a few surprises up our sleeve.\u201d<\/p>\n So while many Outlander TV series fans are avid fans of the novels, that\u2019s not to say that the endings will correlate in any way. So really, all bets are truly off going into season 8 after all.<\/p>\n Davis also revealed: \u201cIt\u2019s tough because we\u2019re not finishing the book series, obviously there\u2019s one more book. It\u2019s tough to wrap it up before the books have wrapped. There\u2019s so many things to track and figure out, we want a satisfying ending that\u2019s not Diana\u2019s ending obviously.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n With a loyal fan base and avid viewers expecting to see what will happen to Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitr\u00edona Balfe), does Davis feel any pressure?<\/p>\n She commented:\u00a0\u201cI feel pressure every day. Obviously we\u2019re in a writer\u2019s strike and an actor\u2019s strike and it\u2019s been really difficult, everything\u2019s been put on hold. But I feel that pressure daily.\u201d<\/p>\n But even so, Davis remarked: \u201cI think about it a lot, I think we\u2019re going to do a great job and I have complete confidence in the writers, but we\u2019ll see what happens. I\u2019m really confident we\u2019ll figure out a way to end it for ourselves.<\/p>\n \u201cOnce again, it won\u2019t be Diana\u2019s ending because she\u2019s still writing it but it will be a satisfying ending for us, for the show.
