Lee Mack has recalled filming his memorable episode of Inside No. 9<\/a> \u2013 and the lengths he had to go to keep his appearance a secret.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the Would I Lie to You? star appeared in an episode of Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith\u2019s popular anthology series that had been billed as something completely different ahead of time.<\/p>\n

Viewers were expecting to watch an episode set on a No. 9 bus, but were instead treated to an apparent episode of a new gameshow called 3 by 3<\/a>, hosted by Mack \u2013 although it was of course a brilliantly twisted instalment of Inside No. 9 after all.<\/p>\n

Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/strong> at the National Television Awards 2023<\/a>, Mack revealed that he had to lie to fellow comedian Tim Key (This Time with Alan Partridge, The Witchfinder) to avoid giving the game away.<\/p>

\u201cIt was very secretive \u2013 the hardest thing was actually keeping it quiet,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe and Steve Pemberton went out that night with Tim Key, and they\u2019re good mates and I know Tim quite well, but we weren\u2019t allowed to tell him. We had this weird conversation where I had to pretend to be doing something else \u2013 lying to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said I was doing a real quiz show, and he said, \u2018Who for? Don\u2019t you already do one?\u2019 And then I got worried that other people would find out and then I shouldn\u2019t be doing another quiz show because I\u2019m already doing one. It\u2019s very messy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, asked about the future of Not Going Out, Mack remained tight-lipped but revealed that they are \u201chaving conversations\u201d about more episodes of the BBC sitcom.<\/p>\n

Mack was attending this year\u2019s NTAs as a nominee in the Quiz Game Show category for hosting The 1% Club \u2013 and not 3 by 3\u2026<\/p>\n
