What *did* happen to PJ & Duncan? <\/p>

The internet broke when Ant & Dec announced they would be rebooting the show that made them famous, Byker Grove<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The northern young adult series propelled them \u2013 among others \u2013 into household names, and the Geordie duo have planned to pay homage to their roots with a revival of the series, this time named just \u201cByker\u201d.<\/p>\n

RadioTimes.com<\/a> spoke exclusively to them at the National Television Awards 2023<\/a> following their landmark 22nd win for Entertainment Presenter<\/a> and found out how the reboot is coming along.<\/p>\n

Ant said: \u201cProduction\u2019s in the very early stages. We\u2019re still working out plots, cast and storylines. But there\u2019s a lot of interested parties in the show. We\u2019re very excited. And we\u2019re thrilled with the response!<\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t expect [to break the internet]\u2026 we thought it might be a bit of a trade story and a bit of a media story, but we didn\u2019t expect it to be as big as it was.<\/p>\n

\u201cI suppose a lot of people grew up on that show and it was important to them. It touched upon a lot of serious topics back in the day and it was obviously important to people, so we\u2019ll treat it with respect \u2013 and have a lot of fun shooting it!\u201d<\/p>

Dec added: \u201cThat\u2019s the thing, it\u2019s a show really close to our hearts. It\u2019s where we started, it gave us our break. We were always going to be really careful about bringing it back and what we would do with it.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut seeing the reaction from everyone online and the reaction when we announced it makes you think, \u2018Oh God, we\u2019ve got to be really careful what we do for everybody!\u2019 It\u2019s not just our show, it\u2019s everybody\u2019s show. Everybody\u2019s invested in it and everybody watched it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ant joked: \u201cSo my idea of turning it into a musical is out, is it?!\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans will fondly remember Ant & Dec played PJ & Duncan (respectively) in Byker Grove \u2013 and it seems the roles haven\u2019t left the presenters, with them both admitting they often wonder what happened to their characters.<\/p>\n

Could a cameo be on the cards?<\/p>\n

Dec admitted they are \u201cslightly tempted\u201d, before adding: \u201cWe did think when we were first talking about it, \u2018I wonder what PJ & Duncan do now\u2026 in their mid-40s. PJ moved away and Duncan went off to university\u2026\u2019 I\u2019ve just made that up!<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be interesting to know what those characters are doing and if they ever met up again. Anything\u2019s possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
