Rhys Connah gave an update on whether he would return for more Happy Valley at the NTAs. <\/p>
The National Television Awards<\/a> took place earlier this week, with the UK\u2019s top talent gathering together for a glamorous celebration of this year\u2019s best TV.<\/p>\n Among the winners was Sarah Lancashire,<\/a> who took home the Special Recognition Award for playing gritty Sergeant Catherine Cawood in the BBC\u2019s hit crime drama Happy Valley<\/a>.<\/p>\n Penned by Sally Wainwright, the series has received great acclaim from viewers and critics alike, with many wondering whether a spin-off centring around Cawood\u2019s nephew Ryan (Rhys Connah) could be green-lit.<\/p>\n RadioTimes.com<\/a> caught up with the cast at the NTAs red carpet, where Connah himself discussed the possibility of a return.<\/p> \u201cIt\u2019s not happening,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m sorry to say it, it\u2019s not. They\u2019ve wrote the three seasons which they wanted to make and the story\u2019s finished.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cEven if I\u2019d enjoy filming it, it\u2019s not what would be best for the story, so that\u2019s it. Three seasons, you know.\u201d<\/p>\n Though it doesn\u2019t look like the Cawoods\u2019 story will continue, the cast was quick to praise Wainwright, with Lancashire also hinting at the possibility of working together in the future<\/a>.<\/p>\n Mollie Winnard, who played Joanna Hepworth in the drama\u2019s final season, revealed that she had wanted to work with the writer before going on to becoming an actor.<\/p>\n \u201cI actually had it written in a little notepad from being 16 when I watched the show, well before I was an actor, that I wanted to work with Sarah because of watching Happy Valley.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, yeah, Sally Wainwright\u2019s phenomenal, her work is excellent,\u201d she told RadioTimes.com.<\/strong><\/p>
