Newcomer Luca Toolan plays Year 11 bully Mason. <\/p>
Coronation Street is set to tackle a new school bullying storyline this autumn.<\/p>\n
The storyline begins when Weatherfield High\u2019s Year 11 bad boy Mason (Luca Toolan) begins to make fun of Ruby Dobbs (Billie Naylor), which leads to Hope (Isabella Flanagan) confronting Mason, Dylan and Liam.<\/p>\n
Things get worse quickly when Mason takes Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) under his wing and targets Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) as their new victim.<\/p>\n
In the coming months, Mason\u2019s torment of Liam will escalate, setting not only the pupils but the parents against each other \u2013 with Sean, Maria and Gary all blaming each other\u2019s sons.<\/p>
Ahead of the scenes playing out on-screen, Manchester actor Toolan told ITV<\/a>: \u201cI found out about the extent of the storyline on my first day through Liam and Charlie, as they were given a lowdown as to what\u2019s happening. They told me it was going to get dark.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s exciting to be here, but there\u2019s also more pressure and responsibility to do this storyline justice.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n McCheyne, who plays Dylan Wilson, says his character is \u201cvery naive in what he\u2019s going into\u201d ahead of the bullying storyline.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Sean realises how dangerous Mason\u2019s influence is but Dylan ignores him quite a lot.<\/p>\n \u201cMason isn\u2019t a true friend to Dylan, but as I\u2019ve said he\u2019s very easily influenced so I don\u2019t think he realises what he\u2019s getting himself into,\u201d he told ITV.<\/p> \n
