“There’s not been a day that I’ve woken up without being in pain.” <\/p>
Emmerdale star, Waterloo Road<\/a> icon and now Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> contestant Adam Thomas<\/a> has been looking forward to the talent show ever since he got the call to say he\u2019d be competing this year.<\/p>\n He was \u201cover the moon\u201d, albeit slightly \u201capprehensive\u201d about taking part \u2013 but knew it was ultimately the right decision.<\/p>\n Now he has started to don his dancing shoes and is ready to give it all he can.<\/p>\n Thomas previously revealed<\/a> he signed up to this year\u2019s show because he wants \u201cto be able to move again\u201d, after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune and inflammatory disease in which your immune system attacks healthy cells in your body by mistake, often targeting the joints.<\/p> During a break in between filming for the upcoming series of Waterloo Road<\/a>, Adam Thomas chatted with RadioTimes.com<\/a> with sheer enthusiasm about Strictly Come Dancing, and opened up about his struggles with arthritis as he begins training.<\/p>\n He explained: \u201cI\u2019ll be honest, its impact is already here. It\u2019s difficult, you know, there\u2019s some stuff that I can\u2019t necessarily do. Stuff that I\u2019m in pain doing.<\/p>\n \u201cI think since January, there\u2019s not been a day that I\u2019ve woken up without being in pain \u2013 as drastic as it sounds, it\u2019s the truth. Every day is a struggle.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n While keeping a positive outlook on the situation, the soap star revealed he has been trying to cut out things that may affect his arthritis as he begins training for the talent show.<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cI\u2019m just taking every day as it comes, and it is going to be struggle. I\u2019ve got my arthritis to think of but I\u2019m just trying to do my best. That\u2019s all I can do.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd, you know, hopefully I can hang on in there and and get through week by week. There\u2019s no doubt about it \u2013 it\u2019s definitely gonna be tough.\u201d<\/p>\n Thomas will be joining the likes of Angela Rippon<\/a>, Les Dennis<\/a> and Zara McDermott<\/a> to compete for the famed Glitterball trophy.<\/p> \n
