{"id":36927,"date":"2023-09-18T13:34:25","date_gmt":"2023-09-18T11:34:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/?p=1891255"},"modified":"2023-09-18T14:55:32","modified_gmt":"2023-09-18T12:55:32","slug":"gb-news-show-hosted-by-2-conservative-mps-breaches-ofcom-rules","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/radiotimes\/rss_feed\/gb-news-show-hosted-by-2-conservative-mps-breaches-ofcom-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"GB News show hosted by 2 Conservative MPs breaches Ofcom rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\"> The programme was found in breach of Rules 5.11 and 5.12 of the Broadcasting Code. <\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By Katelyn Mensah\n                \t\t<\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Monday, 18 September 2023 at 11:34 AM<\/p><hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body> <p>Ofcom has found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/current-affairs\/how-to-watch-gb-news-can-you-watch-gb-news-online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GB News<\/a> to be in breach of due impartiality rules over a show presented by Conservative MPs Esther McVey and Philip Davies, in which they interviewed the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt.<\/p>\n<p>Ofcom received 45 complaints about the programme and investigated the show under the Broadcasting Code.<\/p>\n<p>The broadcasting regulator ruled that the instalment of Saturday Morning with Esther and Phil, which aired on GB News on Saturday 11th March, failed to \u201crepresent and give due weight to an appropriately wide range of significant views on a matter of major political controversy and current public policy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Ofcom found GB News in breach of Rules 5.11 and 5.12 of the Broadcasting Code.<\/p> <p>In the show found in breach, McVey and Davies, members of the Conservative Party, interviewed Chancellor Jeremy Hunt about the then upcoming Spring Budget.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis programme was presented by two sitting MPs from one political party.
