Angela Rippon blew everyone away with her first Strictly routine. <\/p>
Angela Rippon might be the oldest Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> contestant ever to compete on the BBC entertainment show, but she\u2019s already proven age is but a number \u2013 and it\u2019s only Week 1.<\/p>\n The Strictly Come Dancing celebs<\/a> are only just finding their dancing feet but Angela<\/a>, 78, dazzled not only the viewers but the judges as well when she took to the dance floor for her first performance of the season tonight (Saturday 23rd September).<\/p>\n The broadcasting veteran sparkled literally and figuratively throughout her Cha Cha with professional partner Kai Widdrington, set to the soundtrack of Get the Party Started.<\/p>\n Angela\u2019s pi\u00e8ce de r\u00e9sistance was an incredible split, which saw Kai lift her leg high into the air.<\/p>\n The judges could hardly contain their excitement when it came time to have their say on the stunning routine, which got a deafening round of applause from the studio audience.<\/p>\n \u201cThat was a statement,\u201d Motsi Mabuse enthused. \u201cThat\u2019s how you start a Saturday night. My goodness. Wowzer!\u201d<\/p>\n Head Judge\u00a0Shirley Bassey praised Angela\u2019s \u201cmost spectacular dance,\u201d saying: \u201cSimple in content and executed with 150 per cent of Angela Rippon.\u201d<\/p>\n Anton Du Beke, meanwhile, seemed briefly lost for words \u2013 but, of course, found them again in time to praise her unreservedly.<\/p>\n Then it came time for notorious miser of the panel, Craig Revel Horwood.<\/p>\n But even Craig didn\u2019t have a bad word to say, exclaiming: \u201cJaw-dropping darling!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve never seen him that happy!\u201d Tess Daly laughed, as Craig beamed at the silver sequin-class Angela.<\/p>\n Strictly viewers went wild for the routine on Twitter, with one branding her a \u201cqueen\u201d, a \u201clegend\u201d and an \u201cicon\u201d.<\/p>\n ANGELA RIPPON QUEEN LEGEND ICON #strictly<\/a> pic.twitter.com\/TB4opWzWwz<\/a><\/p>\u2014 poppy \u263e (@scddevereaux) September 23, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote>
