Harry Potter actors Jason Isaacs and James Phelps led the tributes to the late Dumbledore star. <\/p>
Harry Potter stars have paid tribute to the legendary Dumbledore actor Michael Gambon following his death<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n The star died peacefully in hospital aged 82, with the news confirmed in a statement by his family on Thursday (28th September).<\/span><\/p>\n On behalf of his wife and son, <\/span>publicist Clair Dobbs wrote<\/span>: \u201cWe are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cBeloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. Michael was 82.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Sir Michael, who received two Screen Actors Guild Awards, three Olivier Awards and four BAFTAs, was a star of stage and screen for more than six decades, and remains best known for his role as Albus Dumbledore, which he portrayed in six of the eight Harry Potter films<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n The veteran actor also played French detective Jules Maigret in ITV series Maigret, as well as appearing in the BBC series, The Singing Detective.<\/span><\/p>\n Tributes and messages of condolences have been pouring in on social media following the sad news of the actor\u2019s passing.<\/span><\/p>\n Magnificent Michael Gambon has died. I learned what acting could be from Michael in The Singing Detective – complex, vulnerable and utterly human.
