There\u2019s a new Sharma coming to Emmerdale<\/a> in the form of Amit, Jai\u2019s (Chris Bisson) biological father.<\/p>\n It\u2019s been a turbulent summer for Jai and his family, after the sudden loss of the man he thought was his father, Rishi (Bhasker Patel).<\/p>\n However, Rishi was keeping a big secret \u2013 Jai wasn\u2019t his son, he was actually his nephew.<\/p> Now, Emmerdale has confirmed the arrival of Amit, who will see his sons Suni and Jai, and he will be played by a familiar face to soap fans.<\/p>\n Anil Goutam will take on the role, and fans of EastEnders<\/a> will recall his stint in Walford as Ranveer Gulati, who was famously killed by Ravi.<\/p>\n Speaking about Amit\u2019s arrival in the village, producer Laura Shaw told press including RadioTimes.com<\/a>: \u201cYou\u2019re going to meet Anil Goutam, who plays Amit, a new character joining us as part of the Sharma family.<\/p>\n \u201cWe found out not so long ago that Rishi was actually not Jai\u2019s biological father, and actually Jai\u2019s father is Amit, who is Rishi\u2019s brother.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cWhat you\u2019ll see with him is quite a dark and complex character. Although Suni certainly wants him to stick around, is Amit hiding another secret that threatens the whole family?\u201d<\/p>\n What will the impact of Amit\u2019s arrival have on Jai?<\/p>
