Following reports that Elizabeth Debicki\u2019s Princess Diana<\/a> will appear as a \u2018ghost\u2019 during scenes in the sixth season of The Crown<\/a>, Netflix<\/a> has responded to media backlash over the news.<\/p>\n Responding to the rumoured scenes, which are said to involve the Queen and Prince Charles speaking with a vision of Diana after her death, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Mail Online<\/a>: \u201cThe whole idea that Peter Morgan has scripted ghostly appearances by Diana is utterly tasteless.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is pitiful that someone with his skills has reduced what is undoubtedly a tragedy to something that he knows perfectly well will be controversial.\u201d<\/p>\n However, in a statement provided to RadioTimes.com<\/a>, a spokesperson for Netflix said of the scenes: \u201cAfter her death, Diana appears as part of an inner dialogue in separate scenes with Prince Charles and the Queen, who are both reflecting on their relationship with the late princess.<\/p>\n \u201cThese sensitive and thoughtful imagined conversations seek to bring to life the depth of emotion that was felt after such a seismic tragedy struck at the heart of the family.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n The release date<\/a> for The Crown season 6 was confirmed earlier this week, with the show\u2019s final outing set to be split into two parts.<\/p>\n The first batch of four episodes will be released on 16th November, while the second batch of six will be released on 14th December.<\/p>\n Producer Suzanne Mackie previously said that while \u201cthe audience will judge\u201d in the end whether they have portrayed Diana\u2019s death in a sensitive manner, she thinks<\/a> it has been \u201cdelicately, thoughtfully recreated\u201d.<\/p>\n As well as depicting the death of Diana, season 6 will also dramatise the relationship between Prince William and Kate Middleton<\/a>, with the show\u2019s creator Peter Morgan saying that their arrival on the show \u201cjust blows the doors off, as it were, and you just wanna see them\u201d.<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cAnd it happened in the read through when we were reading, you could just see everyone was just looking up and looking at each other across the room.
