It seems fans still have a while to wait before the next 007 is revealed… <\/p>
More than two years have come and gone since No Time to Die<\/a> arrived in cinemas \u2013 but despite plenty of rumours, we\u2019re still none the wiser as to who will be replacing Daniel Craig as cinema\u2019s most iconic spy.<\/p>\n And it looks like we could still be some way off finding out, with franchise chief Barbara Broccoli having recently issued another update on the status of the next entry in the long-running series.<\/p>\n Speaking to The Guardian<\/a> ahead of the debut of Prime Video reality series 007: Road to a Million<\/a>, Brocolli explained that she and her fellow producers \u201chaven\u2019t even begun\u201d the process of modernising Bond for the 26th film.<\/p> She also mentioned that there is \u201ca big road ahead\u201d as they ensure that the character is \u201creinvented for the next chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n While she doesn\u2019t specifically mention anything about the casting process, it hardly seems like an announcement is imminent \u2013 and so it appears Bond fans will have to make do with speculating for a while yet.<\/p>\n A number of high-profile actors have been linked to the role before and after Daniel Craig announced his intention to step down following his fifth outing as 007 \u2013 with current frontrunners including the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson<\/a> and Reg\u00e9-Jean Page.<\/a><\/p>\n Other stars who have been mentioned over the years include James Norton, Jack Lowden, Tom Hiddleston, Henry Cavill and Idris Elba, although the latter three are now probably too old to take over the part.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Earlier this year, Brocolli\u2019s half-brother and co-producer Michael G. Wilson told\u00a0Deadline<\/a> that the next 007 will be \u201ca thirty-something\u201d while casting director Debbie McWilliams<\/a> told RadioTimes.com<\/a> that \u201cthe gift of casting a James Bond film\u2026 is you don\u2019t need to cast a well-known name.\u201d<\/p>\n McWilliams also said that most of the casting rumours make her \u201cdie laughing\u201d<\/a> adding that: \u201cWhen I hear about who the bookies\u2019 favourites are, and who\u2019s number 15 and all this kind of thing\u2026 I mean, it\u2019s just hilarious.\u201d<\/p>\n A rather outlandish \u2013 and so far unsubstantiated rumour \u2013 recently emerged that suggested Oppenheimer<\/a> director Christopher Nolan could be set to take the reigns for the next two Bond instalments, which would certainly be exciting news for fans if it turns out to be true.<\/p>\n Nolan himself said earlier this year that \u201cit would be an amazing privilege\u201d to do a Bond film and that \u201cthe influence of those movies in my filmography is embarrassingly apparent.\u201d<\/p> \n
