For the first time since 1995, New Zealand and South Africa will face each other in a World Cup final. New Zealand, after sending Ireland home in the quarters, beat Argentina in the semi-finals by a convincing score of 44-6.<\/p>\n
South Africa ended host France\u2019s tournament early, and then a penalty from Handre Pollard in the last few minutes against England gave the Springboks a single-point victory, sending them to a second consecutive final.<\/p>\n
The last four World Cups have been won by these two sides, and the winner this weekend will be the first nation to win the trophy four times.<\/p>\n
The biggest news in the lead-up to the clash concerns South Africa\u2019s hooker Bongi Mbonambi, who has been cleared to play following an investigation into allegations made by Tom Curry that he was racially abused by Mbonambi during the semi-final with England.<\/p>\n
Governing body World Rugby ruled that there was \u201cinsufficient evidence\u201d Mbonambi used an alleged racial slur and said the case is \u201cclosed unless additional evidence comes to light\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mbonambi is South Africa\u2019s only specialist hooker after Malcolm Marx\u2019s injury, so losing him would have been incredibly damaging to the Boks\u2019 chances against New Zealand.<\/p>\n
