Almost two decades since its release, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is getting a shiny remake for modern consoles.<\/p>\n

The iconic mission to save Sokolov, beat The Boss and save the world \u2013 all while eating the flora and fauna of a Russian jungle \u2013 is an iconic piece of gaming history.<\/p>\n

And now the story is being retold (or remade?) in Metal Gear Solid \u0394: Snake Eater (MGS Delta: Snake Eater).<\/p>\n

An MGS3 remake has been rumoured for a while, but it was still a surprise to see Naked Snake (in current-gen graphics) emerge from the bushes a few months ago.<\/p>\n

Since that teaser trailer, has any more news about the remake surfaced? Well, last night at the Xbox Partner Preview, there were a few more details added \u2013 as well as some lovely new footage of the game\u2019s engine.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll share that, along with everything else we know about Metal Gear Solid \u0394: Snake Eater, down below.<\/p>\n

Metal Gear Solid 3 remake release date: speculation and rumours<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As fans of the series, it is with great regret to inform you that any signal-intelligence skills we gleaned from the games haven\u2019t proved fruitful for us on this occasion as currently there is no confirmed release date<\/strong>, although rumours point towards 2024.<\/p>\n

Konami has its hands full with a number of projects at the moment such as the Silent Hill 2 remake<\/a> which is rumoured for release not far from now so it will no doubt be allocating resources to its most urgent projects.<\/p>

Can I pre-order Metal Gear Solid 3 remake?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Currently, you cannot pre-order the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. As it will no doubt be a huge release for many of us nostalgic old fools, it is very likely that Konami will have a range of versions for us to buy.<\/p>\n

Accompanying the worldwide release was a coveted Japan-only premium release which came in a lovely cardboard box. Inside was of course the game, a 144:1 scale model of the Shagohod, a storybook, an artbook and a bonus DVD.<\/p>\n

We wouldn\u2019t be surprised at all to see Konami pull the stops out for some fan service and we\u2019ll update you as soon as we know more on the matter.<\/p>\n

Which consoles and platforms can play Metal Gear Solid 3 remake?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X and PC. There\u2019s no word on what engine the game will be using but we do know that the Silent Hill 2 remake is using Unreal Engine 5. If this were the case it would make sense that it\u2019s a current-gen only title.<\/p>\n

Unreal Engine 5 has seen a number of updates recently that lends itself well to the lush jungle environments of the game. Previously, UE5 technologies such as Nanite didn\u2019t work for vegetation but a recent developer showcase demonstrated the updated tech in action and it really was spectacular.<\/p>\n

As such, it is unlikely we will see this on last-gen consoles and certainly not the Switch.<\/p>
