It would seem Remedy’s long-awaited sequel has been worth the wait. <\/p>

Alan Wake 2 reviews are now rolling in, and it would appear that Remedy has knocked it out of the park \u2013 with many calling it one of the best games of 2023.<\/p>\n

Considering it\u2019s been quite the year already for video games \u2013 think Spider-Man 2<\/a>, Super Mario Bros Wonder<\/a>, Zelda, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor<\/a>, Mortal Kombat, Starfield<\/a>, Diablo, ah the list goes on \u2013 it\u2019s certainly an unexpected but welcome surprise to see how highly rated Alan Wake 2 has become.<\/p>\n

Anyone who has been holding out for 13 years to see the best-selling thriller novelist return looks to be in for a great time.<\/p>\n

To dive a little deeper into just how well Alan Wake 2 has been reviewed, we\u2019ve rounded up a good number of critics\u2019 thoughts from some of the biggest outlets from across the web, along with their scores for your viewing pleasure.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, Alan Wake 2 is sitting at a superb 89 rating on Metacritic<\/a>, and an even more impressive score of 90 on OpenCritic<\/a>. This makes it one of the highest-rated video games of 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s start with some extremely positive ones: GameSpot\u2019<\/a>s Mark Delaney found the game to be essential, with a 10\/10 score awarded.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe mere existence of an Alan Wake 2 would have, at different points over the years, felt like a minor miracle, but for it to be this one, that feels singular in its achievements, and coming from a studio that refuses to shy away from the paths less traveled, makes Alan Wake 2 a miracle illuminated,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

VG247<\/a> writer Kelsey Raynor similarly awarded the top score with five stars, saying: \u201cAlan Wake 2 plays out like a completely different game when compared to its 2010 predecessor. For all the right reasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cBelieve me when I say that Remedy Entertainment has created something so unnerving, and wholly bizarre, that it will give Silent Hill\u2019s reboot a run for its money.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tristan Ogilvie of IGN<\/a> was also fulsome in his praise, finding the game to be a \u201csuperb survival horror sequel that makes the cult-classic original seem like little more than a rough first draft by comparison\u201d. It earned a 9\/10 score for amazing from the reviewer.<\/p>

Outside of traditional games media, The Guardian<\/a>\u2018s Rick Lane found Alan Wake 2 to be \u201cRemedy\u2019s best narrative adventure yet\u201d in a four-star review. He did, however, note that the game can, at times, \u201cfeel too much like you\u2019re just pressing forward while weird things happen around you\u201d.<\/p>\n

One of the only outliers is Metro GameCentral<\/a>, which found the sequel to be \u201cpurposefully undermining the best elements of the original\u201d, though did say it \u201cstill gets just enough right to please both existing fans and potential newcomers\u201d. A 6\/10 score was assigned as a result.<\/p>\n

Alan Wake 2 is scheduled to launch on 27th October 2023 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X\/S and Microsoft Windows.<\/p>\n
