With English Rose being perhaps our favourite song from the 1970s, the RadioTimes.com<\/a> team are thrilled Paul Weller of The Jam is performing live in the UK next year, with an outdoor concert at Edinburgh Castle.<\/p>\n Few musicians have had as great an impact on the British music scene as Woking-born Weller; he achieved fame with the rock band The Jam, which was at the forefront of the Mod revival with their hits Going Underground and A Town Called Malice.<\/p>\n Following The Jam\u2019s split, Weller had further success with Style Council: a soul band which Weller formed with The Merton Parkas\u2019 Mick Talbot. The 65-year-old then established himself as a solo artist with his eponymous 1992 album, and he\u2019s been making hits and inspiring bands ever since.<\/p>\n After his self-titled debut album, Weller teamed up with Steve Craddock \u2014 Birmingham rock band Ocean Colour Scene\u2019s guitarist \u2014 for his second studio album, Wild Wood. Weller\u2019s third album, Stanley Road, went straight to number one in 1995.<\/p>\n You might be wondering where Weller got the nickname The Modfather from. Weller has undoubtedly been an influence on huge Britpop bands such as Oasis, Blur, the Charlatans, and Supergrass, and he\u2019s been awarded four BRITs, including the Best British Male award three times and the Outstanding Contribution to Music award.
