Doctor Who spin-off series K-9 and Company: A Girl\u2019s Best Friend is coming to BBC iPlayer<\/a>!<\/p>\n K-9 & Company was a one-episode pilot as a proposed spin-off to Doctor Who. The show featured Elisabeth Sladen<\/a> as Sarah Jane Smith, and K9, a robotic dog voiced by John Leeson.<\/p>\n While both characters were the Fourth Doctor\u2019s companions, they hadn\u2019t appeared together prior to the pilot episode.<\/p>\n The episode was first broadcast on BBC One in December 1981, but it was not taken up as a continuing series.<\/p> The synopsis for the 50-minute K-9 and Company: A Girl\u2019s Best Friend episode reads: \u201cSarah Jane searches for her missing aunt in a sleepy Gloucestershire village.
