While dubbing Survivor UK<\/a> as \u201cthe toughest game on television\u201d, contestant Doug has said some of the contestants from sport and athletic backgrounds may have had a bigger advantage when taking part.<\/p>\n

The rebooted series is the \u201cultimate and physical and psychological game\u201d, which will see 18 carefully selected people from all walks of life take part in a range of physical and mental challenges, with the hopes of winning the huge \u00a3100,000 cash prize and title of Sole Survivor.<\/p>\n

Doug is one of those 18 contestants<\/a> who were marooned in the Dominican Republic, and as a Survivor superfan, he knew exactly what needed to be done to go far in the competition.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a> ahead of the show\u2019s launch, Doug explained how some of the contestants were at a better advantage in comparison to others.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old had played rugby in his younger years, and when asked if any of his rugby skills helped him in the competition, he said: \u201cI\u2019m quite a tall dude. And so being tall was certainly an advantage for me in the game.\u201d<\/p>

He went on to say that the cast is filled with \u201ca lot of athletes\u201d, including a professional boxer, semi-professional footballer and fitness instructor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of athletes in the game, and I think having an athletic background certainly was, in some ways, an advantage,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Hailing from the Isle of Mull, Doug has been watching Survivor for as long as he can remember, and when he was younger he would re-enact some of the show\u2019s original challenges with his family.<\/p>\n
