The third season of FX\u2019s What We Do in the Shadows premieres in the US today and that\u2019s not the only exciting news for fans of the vampire mockumentary \u2013 it\u2019s been renewed for a fourth series!<\/p>\n

Speaking at a TCA presentation last week, FX President of Original Programming Nick Grad said: \u201cFans can\u2019t seem to get enough of What We Do in the shadows and FX is ready to feed that appetite by setting up the series for a fourth season.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spin-off to Jermaine Clement and Taika Waititi\u2019s film of the same name,<\/a> What We Do in the Shadows\u2019 upcoming series will find a home on BBC Two in the UK and while an official airdate has not yet been confirmed, there\u2019s a lot to look forward to judging by star Harvey Guill\u00e9n\u2019s recent comments.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll be introducing old faces that you saw. I will be seeing old girlfriends of the characters. There\u2019s definitely a lot of adventure ahead,\u201d he told Bleeding Cool<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not all \u2013 Guill\u00e9n will also be hosting an aftershow for the series, which will air on FX in the US after the season three premiere as well as on the show\u2019s Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels.<\/p>\n

Guill\u00e9n, who stars as Guillermo De La Cruz in the show, will be chatting to the cast, crew and celebrity fans about their favourite moments from making the show, with his co-stars Kayvan Novak and Kristen Schaal stopping by for episode one.<\/p>\n

Will there be a season 3 of What We Do In The Shadows?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Yes! US network FX confirmed the series\u2019 renewal on Friday 22nd May, shortly before season two landed in the UK.<\/p>\n

Various cast members reacted to the news, with Mark Proksch, who plays the hilariously dull energy vampire Colin Robinson, promising \u201cmore silliness on the way\u201d.<\/p>\n

Legendary guest star Mark Hamill even tweeted about the \u201cgreat\u201d news, adding: \u201cEveryone\u2019s favourite undead roommates will live on for a 3rd season!\u201d<\/p>\n

There seems to be a decent chance that Jim the Vampire \u2013 Laszlo\u2019s nemesis and new coach of Pennsylvania\u2019s women\u2019s volleyball team \u2013 will return for season three!<\/p>\n

What We Do In The Shadows season 3 release date<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Good news at last \u2013 we finally have an airdate for What We Do In The Shadows season three!<\/p>\n

According to Bloody Disgusting<\/a>, the mockumentary series will return to FX on\u00a0Thursday 2nd September<\/strong> with the first two episodes airing back-to-back.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, we don\u2019t yet have an official release date for UK fans but judging by the show\u2019s previous seasons, episodes of What We Do In The Shadows don\u2019t tend to cross the pond until two months after the US premiere.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, we predict that season three will land in the UK in\u00a0November 2021.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Filming was original due to begin in February 2021, due to ongoing COVID-19 delays, it has since been postponed to later in the year, according to SyFy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not all bad news though \u2013 show runner Paul Simms told Deadline<\/a> in February that the cast and crew have done table reads for \u201cnine of the ten scripts now\u201d, so hopefully\u00a0filming won\u2019t be delayed for too much longer.<\/p>

What will happen in What We Do In The Shadows season 3?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Season two of What We Do In The Shadows left viewers on a huge cliffhanger as Nando\u2019s loyal familiar Guillermo (Harvey Guill\u00e9n) used his inherited vampire-hunting skills to kill the Vampiric Council and all the immortal guests at the Nouveau Th\u00e9\u00e2tre des Vampires, saving his masters.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Deadline<\/a> in February, show runner Paul Simms teased: \u201cWell, without giving too much away, yes, obviously, season two ended with not only Guillermo slaying lots of important vampires, but the vampires he lives with, our regular characters now, knowing that he\u2019s formerly a secret vampire slayer, and now they know about it, and yeah, we pick up very directly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to Bleeding Cool<\/a>, Harvey Guill\u00e9n said: \u201cWe left off on a real big cliffhanger with finding out the truth and the housemates finding out about Guillermo\u2019s lineage with Van Helsing and that he\u2019s a natural-born killer. We definitely pick up there.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s like we pick up where we left off and we\u2019ll be dealing with a lot of new things as well. We\u2019ll be introducing old faces that you saw. I will be seeing old girlfriends of the characters. There\u2019s definitely a lot of adventure ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

What will Nandor, Laszlo and Nadja do with Guillermo now that they know of his vampire-killing abilities? And what will the vampire community think of the blood-sucking trio, who in their eyes have committed the most heinous crime a vampire can commit?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s possible they\u2019ll come knocking sooner rather than later, as showrunner Paul Simms revealed at the What We Do in the Shadows Comic-Con@Home panel that the household will get a hellhound to defend it.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in March, executive producer Stefani Robinson teased during the show\u2019s PaleyFest panel that season three would see one of the character\u2019s celebrate a big birthday as well as \u201cmore animals\u201d.<\/p>\n

Throughout the last series, we also saw Guillermo grow increasingly tired with serving Nandor after it became apparent that the former Ottoman Empire leader had no intentions of turning him into a vampire.<\/p>\n

Will he return to the ungrateful group\u2019s abode and continue serving their every whim?<\/p>\n

At the What We Do in the Shadows panel at this year\u2019s Comic-Con@Home, Simms added that Nandor \u201cmight be looking for love\u201d in the next season, so it seems he\u2019ll be far too preoccupied to turn Guillermo \u2013 as always!<\/p>\n

Simms also dropped a hint that Colin could finally get some answers about how he became an energy vampire, while also suggesting that gargoyles could be the next spooky creatures added to the show\u2019s fantasy world.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also the small matter of the community of vampire hunters that Guillermo stumbled across half way through last season; they appeared to be completely hopeless without the help of Guillermo, but could return in season three in stronger form.<\/p>\n

What We Do In The Shadows cast<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We\u2019re almost certain to see Kayvan Novak (Nandor the Relentless), Matt Berry (Laszlo Cravensworth), Natasia Demetriou (Nadja), Mark Proksch (Colin Robinson) and Harvey Guill\u00e9n (Guillermo) return for season three, especially given the dramatic events that took place during last series\u2019 finale.<\/p>\n

FX has not yet teased a potential line-up of guest stars for season three, but hopefully Jake McDorman will return as Jeff Suckler \u2013 the reincarnation of Nadja\u2019s former love Gregor, beheaded by Laszlo in series one who returned for one episode in season two as a ghost. Perhaps he\u2019ll reappear in a different form next series.<\/p>\n

Show runner Paul Simms did tease during the show\u2019s PaleyFest panel in March that there\u2019ll be a character joining the show for a season-long arc who\u2019s been referred to in previous episodes. \u201cAnd it\u2019s not Nick Kroll [Simon the Devious], but someone we all know and love,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, Simon the Devious \u2013 played by Big Mouth\u2019s Nick Kroll \u2013 will still return for another series, if he makes it out of that sewer, as well as Mark Hamill, who played Jim the Vampire, in season two.<\/p>\n
