Seven weeks of Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> and six eliminations down: the competition is really heating up as we head into the second half of the season.<\/p>\n

Tonight\u2019s results show saw the results of the public vote combined with the judges\u2019 scores to reveal who would be facing the dreaded dance off.<\/p>\n

And sadly it was Adam Thomas<\/a> and Angela Rippon<\/a> who found themselves in the unenviable position of having to dance again to save their spot in the competition.<\/p>\n

Both celebs had found themselves struggling for points on the Strictly leaderboard<\/a> on Saturday night against very strong competition from the likes of Ellie Leach<\/a>, Layton Williams<\/a> and Annabel Croft, who had everyone in tears with her emotional tribute to her late husband<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Adam finished joint bottom of the leaderboard with Angela Scanlon, scoring 27 points, while Angela was just ahead, scoring 28 points from the judges.<\/p>

Angela and her professional partner Kai Widdrington performed their Waltz to Fascination by Nat King Cole for the judges once more, while Adam and his partner Luba Mushtuk took to the dance floor for another rendition of their Rumba to Dancing on My Own by Callum Scott.<\/p>\n

Their fate was then in the hands of Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Head Judge, Shirley Ballas.<\/p>\n

Craig chose to save Angela and Kai, saying he thought both couples had improved in the dance off.<\/p>\n

Motsi also chose to save Angela and Kai but said it was a tough decision to make.<\/p>\n

When Anton also chose Angela and Kai to remain in Strictly Come Dancing, he sealed Adam\u2019s fate.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the closest dance off we\u2019ve had in the series so far,\u201d Anton said. \u201cIt\u2019s been easy so far but this has been the most difficult.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously very different styles of dance, but danced them very well, but with the content and clarity of the technique I\u2019m going to have to save Angela and Kai.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Angela already had the majority vote, Shirley revealed she would also have chosen the presenter and former Come Dancing host to stay.<\/p>\n

Adam, who survived the dance off against Zara McDermott last week, said: \u201cI honestly thought I was leaving in Week Two and the fact that I\u2019ve got this far \u2013 I\u2019m so proud of myself.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had an amazing time from start to finish,\u201d he continued. \u201cI came here to learn how to dance and I\u2019ve learned so much more about myself. The confidence and self-belief I now have in myself, it\u2019s out of this world.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know my kids are at home now probably crying, it\u2019s okay \u2013 Daddy\u2019s okay! I just wanted to teach my kids that it\u2019s not just about winning or losing, it\u2019s about taking part and doing your best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Turning to his partner Luba, he said: \u201cI just want to say thank you to this one and I\u2019m sorry; I wanted to get us to Blackpool!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t be sorry, you are incredible,\u201d Luba told him. \u201cI had the best season.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust to get to know you, your family and kids, it\u2019s been much more than just a dance show. You\u2019re the winner of my heart forever and it\u2019s better than a trophy.\u201d<\/p>\n
