The scene is part of a re-edited version of season 19 serial Earthshock for Tales of the TARDIS. <\/p>
An emotional new Doctor Who<\/a> scene released as part of Tales of the TARDIS<\/a> has seen the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison) address the death of his former companion Adric \u2013 who was played by Matthew Waterhouse between 1980 and 1982.<\/p>\n The scene plays at the end of a specially re-edited version of the season 19 serial\u00a0Earthshock<\/a>, which ended with Adric dying in a huge explosion after he failed to prevent a Cyberman-controlled freighter from colliding with Earth.<\/p>\n In the new scene, The Doctor and Tegan (Janet Fielding) discuss the death, with the Time Lord saying, \u201che was so\u2026\u201d before Tegan cuts in.<\/p> \u201cOh he was a nightmare,\u201d she says, with the Doctor then adding: \u201cHe was daft, and silly, and sulky and\u2026 he was just a kid.\u201d<\/p>\n After Tegan tells him that \u201che loved you\u201d the Doctor then replies that he realises that now, before they talk about how they never looked back to reflect on Adric\u2019s death, instead sailing on and having more adventures.<\/p>\n They come to the conclusion that being in the memory TARDIS was like therapy, and the Doctor says: \u201cI think it\u2019s done me good, and telling the story keeps me alive.\u201d<\/p>\n He then smiles and asks Tegan to tell him some everyday things about her life, telling her that \u201cmemories of an ordinary life is one of the most shining things of all\u201d.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n And so she begins to tell him about her life as an environmental campaigner, and how the advice he gave her during their time together has helped her achieve great things.<\/p>\n Earlier in 2023, Waterhouse revealed<\/a> how his additional reaction to Adric being killed off had not been positive.<\/p>\n \u201c[Peter Davison\u2019s script] was on the table up in the caf\u00e9 at the Acton rehearsal rooms,\u201d he told\u00a0SFX Magazine<\/a>. \u201cI was sitting there having a cup of tea and I flicked it open.<\/p>\n \u201cMy first thought was, \u2018Oh god, that\u2019s very final.\u2019 I didn\u2019t like it at all. Later, I realised how interesting it was, and how good it was.\u201d<\/p> \n
