Channel 4\u2019s highly anticipated new drama The Couple Next Door<\/a>\u00a0is expected to arrive on our screens soon, and now we have our first proper teaser of what we can expect.<\/p>\n

The series features Poldark\u2019s Eleanor Tomlinson and Harry Potter<\/a>\u2018s Alfred Enoch as couple Evie and Pete, who meet another couple, Danny (Outlander<\/a>\u2018s Sam Heughan) and Becka (The Secrets She Keeps star Jessica De Gouw), when they move to a new neighbourhood.<\/p>\n

Then, as seen in the trailer, one night the couples become unexpectedly sexually entangled, in a way that changes their lives forever.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, there\u2019s also something going on with a very creepy Hugh Dennis<\/a>, although how he factors in we don\u2019t yet know\u2026<\/p>\n

Check out the shocking first trailer right here.<\/p>\n\n<p>Heughan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/outlander-sam-heughan-series-couple-next-door-newsupdate\/\">previously teased<\/a> the \u201cfantastic\u201d new series, saying: \u201cIt\u2019s called The Couple Next Door, based on a Dutch book and TV show about a couple that move to a new neighbourhood and meet their neighbours\u2026 who happen to be swingers! And everything that ensues there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/buccaneers-creator-novel-modern-twist-exclusive-newsupdate\/\">The Buccaneers creator explains changes to give novel a \u201cmodern\u201d twist<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/quentin-blake-bbc-animated-teaser-newsupdate\/\">Quentin Blake adaptation teases first look at BBC animated specials<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We see a shot of Enoch\u2019s Pete holding a gun in the clip \u2013 so whatever does ensue, it certainly seems to be a dramatic escalation.<\/p>\n<p>The show has been described as a \u201cdeliciously dark, psychological drama, exploring the claustrophobia of suburbia and the fallout of chasing your deepest desires\u201d, as well as an \u201caddictive, emotional roller coaster\u201d.<\/p> <p>Heughan is, of course, best known for his role as Jamie in Outlander, the romantic fantasy series which will soon be coming to an end.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/sam-heughan-outlander-magazine-interview\/\">He said of leaving behind his character<\/a>: \u201cIt\u2019s been such a crazy, incredible, rewarding journey. Ten years, seven seasons in, and we\u2019re going to do one more eventually.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I think we\u2019re coming to realise we\u2019re towards the end, and that it\u2019s going to be quite a life-changing moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe show has been my life for a long time. I\u2019ve made friends, we\u2019re basically a family, and it\u2019s going to be very odd not to see everyone again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we finished series seven, we all realised that was the last but one.
