After years of speculation, Nintendo has announced a movie adaption of The Legend of Zelda<\/a>, with creator Shigeru Miyamoto confirming that the film will be live-action.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Set to be produced by Nintendo<\/a> and Arad Productions, the Zelda motion picture will be co-financed by both the games studio and Sony Pictures Entertainment, with both contributing 50 per cent finance. <\/span><\/p>\n Considering the $1.3 billion-plus success of the <\/span>Super Mario Bros Movie<\/span><\/a> that Nintendo found with Universal, it\u2019s fair to say that Sony is a surprising choice of collaborator. <\/span><\/p>\n (Not to mention the fact that Sony and Nintendo are rivals in terms of gaming hardware!)<\/span><\/p>\n Arad Productions is headed up by former Marvel Studios founder Avi Arad, who has produced dozens of projects ranging from Iron Man and Venom to Uncharted<\/a> and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThis is Miyamoto. I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films,\u201d wrote the Mario maker (via <\/span>X<\/span><\/a>, formerly Twitter).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI have asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>
