Actor and singer Johnny Ruffo \u2013 best known for his role as Chris Harrington on Home and Away \u2013 has died, aged 35.<\/p>\n

Ruffo was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2017 and announced in August last year that he had been given a terminal diagnosis.<\/p>\n

His death was announced in a statement posted on his official Instagram<\/a> account that read: \u201cIt is with a heavy heart that today we had to farewell our beloved Johnny.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement added that he had been surrounded by his partner Tahnee and family and that he \u201cwent peacefully with the support of some incredible Nurses and Doctors\u201d.<\/p>\n

It continued: \u201cHe was a very talented, charming and sometimes cheeky boy. Johnny was very determined and had a strong will. He battled all the way to the end and fought as hard as he could. Such a beautiful soul with so much more to give.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all love you Johnny and will remember you for all the joy you brought to our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ruffo first found fame as a contestant on The X Factor Australia, making it to the final of the third season of the reality series in 2011.<\/p>\n

He had more reality TV success the following year when he won the\u00a0twelfth season\u00a0of\u00a0Dancing with the Stars Australia, before joining the cast of Home and Away in 2013.<\/p>\n

He went on to play Chris for three years \u2013 appearing in over 300 episodes in that time \u2013 while he later starred in six episodes of Neighbours in 2020, playing Owen Campbell.<\/p>\n

He also released several singles, the first of which was titled On Top and peaked at 14 in the Australian charts.<\/p>\n

His final track Let\u2019s Get Lost was released in 2021, and he explained at the time that it had been inspired by his experiences with medication and\u00a0chemotherapy.<\/p>\n

A joint statement released by Home and Away and Channel 7 \u2013 the network on which it airs \u2013 paid tribute to Ruffo with an Instagram<\/a> post calling him a \u201ctalented and charismatic performer\u201d.<\/p>\n

It added that he was \u201cborn to entertain and brought joy to the lives of so many on and off the screen\u201d and said that his \u201cinfectious energy and big heart will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him\u201d.<\/p> <\/body><\/html>\n
