The Cybermen will also be absent from season 14, Russell T Davies has revealed. <\/p>
The Daleks and the Cybermen might be the Doctor\u2019s most iconic foes \u2013 but Russell T Davies has confirmed that incoming Time Lord Ncuti Gatwa won\u2019t have to do battle with them in his first season of Doctor Who<\/a>.<\/p>\n Speaking at a Q&A event after a press screening for the first of the upcoming 60th anniversary specials<\/a>, The Star Beast, the returning showrunner revealed that the Doctor won\u2019t need to worry about being exterminated or deleted in season 14.<\/p>\n Speaking about the season as a whole, Davies explained: \u201cIt\u2019s very new. Ncuti\u2019s new and Millie [Gibson] is new and it was new to us with Disney and the whole new era, as it were.\u201d<\/p> He added: \u201cSo I didn\u2019t want to look\u2026 there are no Daleks, there are no Cybermen, I didn\u2019t want to look back too much.\u201d<\/p>\n However, he reiterated that he \u201cloves\u201d the Daleks and would be happy to bring them back later on during his second tenure helming the series.<\/p>\n \u201cI do think we\u2019ve had a lot of Daleks lately,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause, actually, lovely Chris Chibnall\u2019s Christmas specials have all been Daleks.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I think they\u2019ve been done a lot, so people are expecting them every year now. So I think they need a good pause.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Meanwhile, Davies added that the Fifteenth Doctor will <\/em>be facing some brand new threats that he hopes could eventually become iconic antagonists in their own right.<\/p>\n \u201cHopefully there\u2019s some enemies and things that will become new classics,\u201d he said. \u201cBut it\u2019s always good to move on!\u201d<\/p>\n Gatwa is set to take over as the Doctor at the end of the third of the 60th anniversary episodes, receiving the torch from David Tennant \u2013 who is returning for a second stint in the TARDIS.<\/p> \n
