Strictly Come Dancing has confirmed that next week\u2019s edition will take the remaining contestants to Blackpool.<\/p>\n

The annual event (which was paused for two seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic) sees Strictly<\/a> head to the spectacular Blackpool Tower ballroom, which has hosted countless competitions in its long history.<\/p>\n

The opening of tonight\u2019s episode saw the celebrity dancers profess their desire to make it to the big event, while acknowledging that the quality of competition is getting tougher and tougher.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really want to be under Blackpool\u2019s bright lights,\u201d said Krishnan Guru-Murthy.<\/a><\/p>\n

Nigel Harman<\/a> added: \u201cBlackpool is an iconic landmark on the map of Strictly.\u201d<\/p>

When the main show began, Claudia Winkleman joked: \u201cThat is the fifth mention [of Blackpool]. We\u2019ve been on air for just over two minutes. Everyone wants to be there next weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n

Co-host Tess Daly chipped in: \u201cI can\u2019t wait for that fresh sea air, Claud.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, Blackpool is typically reserved for the ninth week of Strictly Come Dancing, so longtime viewers won\u2019t be surprised to learn that its just around the corner.<\/p>\n

Fans were thrilled when the show returned to Blackpool in 2022 after two years away, with pandemic health measures making it too difficult to heave the huge production halfway up the country.<\/p>\n

Strictly Come Dancing continues to be a firm favourite of the winter schedules, with Ellie Leach<\/a> and Layton Williams<\/a> emerging as frontrunners to lift the Glitterball trophy.<\/p>\n

They\u2019ve topped the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard<\/a> for three weeks in a row, but the competition is by no means sewn up, with the likes of Angela Rippon, Nigel Harman and Bobby Brazier also still in contention.<\/p>\n

This week boasts another varied line-up of dances ranging from Samba to Waltz, with the remaining stars in the Strictly Come Dancing 2023 line-up<\/a> all keen for a place in Blackpool Week, which is rumoured to be imminent.<\/p>\n
