Colin Baker has revealed that having access to bigger budgets has \u201cmagnificently\u201d expanded the scope of Doctor Who<\/a> ahead of the upcoming 60th anniversary specials<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Sixth Doctor actor revealed during an interview with Film Stories<\/a> that he had seen the first of the three upcoming episodes at a recent preview screening \u2013 and although he didn\u2019t give anything away he said he was \u201cblown away\u201d by what he saw.<\/p>\n

He added that although the dramatic increase to the budget could have ended up hampering the show in some ways, that didn\u2019t appear to be the case at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoctor Who now has a budget\u2026 boy it has a budget \u2013 and that could kill the programme,\u201d he said.<\/p>

\u201cToo much money, for something like Doctor Who, you could kill it. But it hasn\u2019t. What he\u2019s done is enabled them to do the things they could only hint at before and do them credibly, wonderfully, and magnificently.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the same interview, Baker also sang the praises of both returning showrunner Russell T Davies and star David Tennant, who is set to play a different incarnation of the Doctor than the one he made famous in his previous stint on the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cDavid has grabbed it with both hands and anyone who doesn\u2019t see it has my sympathy. I might not have watched it, I don\u2019t know\u2026 But I\u2019m so glad I did. And now I\u2019ll probably watch all the others. Disney is involved, but it hasn\u2019t been Disneyfied. It\u2019s been Russell T Davies-ified! And that\u2019s a good thing,\u201d He said.<\/p>\n
